Staff Full Time Job Description The Standardized Patient (SP) Educator manages the recruitment, training, and operational delivery of human-simulation actors within the Clinical Exam Center at major campus hubs. This role ensures that live patient simulations are delivered with realistic accuracy and behavioral consistency. In a matrixed shared-services deployment model, this position functions under a dual-reporting framework. While reporting administratively to the centralized Director of Simulation and SP Programming, the SP Educator operates under the direct functional, day-to-day programmatic supervision of the local Program Director (or designated program faculty) during the planning, dry-running, and execution of program-specific curricular events to satisfy programmatic staff adequacy and autonomy standards (e.g., ARC-PA Standards A2.11 and A2.12). Required Qualifications Successful acquisition of the CHSOS or CHSE credential through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare within two years of hire required Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in education, theater, healthcare, communication, or related experience. Experience in instructional training, corporate coaching, acting instruction, or clinical skills education Experience working within an accredited health professions program framework preferred

Job Duties SP Performance Training:

Lead patient encounter case training, role-play modeling, and calibration sessions to ensure SPs portray medical scenarios accurately

Encounter Workflow Management:

Direct the on-site flow of medical students and SPs through exam rooms during active clinical assessments

Personnel Pipeline Management:

Execute local recruitment initiatives, conduct interviews/mock encounters, and run onboarding orientations for new SP actors

Administrative Administration:

Manage local SP payroll logging, track local hours, and conduct ongoing quality assurance performance reviews for SP personnel

Case Setup:

Organize physical paperwork, props, and digital checklists within exam rooms prior to live assessments

Academic Governance Compliance:

Adhere strictly to the case guidelines, checklists, rubrics, and educational directives provided by the local Program Director or designated faculty, operating as an operational extension of the program s curricular design

Professional Development & Knowledge Sharing:

Attend at least one national or regional conference per year related to core responsibilities to bring back innovative practices and knowledge to faculty and staff

Multi-Site Mobility:

Travel between university locations and regional campuses as needed to meet the operational requirements of the job Key Competencies Exceptional behavioral coaching and training skills. Local operational autonomy and adherence to strict regulatory/accreditation standards Achieving a high standard of case portrayal accuracy and behavioral calibration across all local SP actors, preventing scoring variances due to actor inconsistency Safe, timely, and organized student/actor traffic control through exam matrix rooms during complex, multi-station clinical assessments Sustaining a diverse, highly trained local SP pipeline through continuous recruitment, leading to zero staffing shortages during high-volume exam weeks 100% accuracy in tracking local hours, processing administrative paperwork, and submitting payroll records in line with institutional deadlines Positive performance evaluations and feedback from the local Program Director(s) regarding adherence to program-specific protocols, operational execution, and behavioral calibration Successful acquisition of the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) credential through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare within two years of hire, utilizing university-sponsored professional development resources
