Schedule:
Tuesdays/Thursdays plus Friday, Sept. 25 (Except for Sept. 25, exact days/times are somewhat flexible and can vary based on rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals are generally 3:00 PM
•5:00 PM. Choreo is not needed at every rehearsal. Rehearsals run longer during run thrus & tech.)
Auditions:
Auditions will be completed prior to the contract start date; the choreographer is not required to attend casting.

We are seeking a passionate Musical Theatre Choreographer to join our team for an upcoming after-school youth production at an elementary school in Irvine, CA, featuring students in grades 2-6. The ideal candidate possesses a contagious attitude of enthusiasm and fun, strong classroom management skills, and a dedication to helping young performers build confidence on stage. Responsibilities Choreography Development:
Create, develop, and teach age-appropriate choreography for a youth musical theatre production.
Instruction & Skill Building:
Teach movement effectively to young beginner and intermediate performers, helping them build overall musical theatre skills and stage presence.
Classroom Management:
Establish a positive, respectful, and safe classroom culture using effective engagement techniques and proactive behavior management strategies.
Differentiated Teaching:
Adapt teaching methods dynamically to accommodate individual learning styles and needs.
Production Collaboration:
Maintain a positive, collaborative, and professional demeanor with the production team. Assist with spacing, staging, and choreography review during tech week when we move to a larger stage.
Requirements & Qualifications Experience:
Proven experience choreographing specifically for children.
Education/Background:
Background or degree in the performing arts (dance, theatre, or musical theatre).
Classroom Skills:
Strong, positive classroom management skills with an innate ability to shift gears quickly to keep students focused and active.
Traits:
Highly reliable, excellent organization and time-management skills, creative, fun, and a dedicated team player.
Logistics:
Must have reliable transportation to the rehearsal location in Irvine and availability for the full duration of the contract (Sept. 22
•Nov. 10).
Background Check:
Must be willing to undergo a standard background check/fingerprint clearance prior to the start of employment, as this position involves working directly with minors.
