Part-Time/Hourly Afternoon/Evening Hours After School The Dance Choreographer plays a key role in the daily success of Dixon After Hours Performing Arts Academy. As the Dance Choreographer at DAH, you will create, teach, and refine choreography for our semester musical shows. You will design dynamic movement sequences that enhance storytelling and bring production numbers to life—while supporting DAH's mission to provide accessible, high ‑ quality dance training in multiple dance styles.

DAILY DUTIES

Key Responsibilities

• Develop original dance routines and movement vocabulary aligned with each production's theme, music, and cast abilities.
• Lead and teach choreography during rehearsals, adapting instruction to varying experience levels; include warm-ups and ensemble exercises.
• Collaborate closely with the Director and Music Director to ensure seamless integration of dance, staging, and musical elements.
• Assist with casting decisions, particularly for ensemble and featured movement roles; support auditions and call‑backs as needed.
• Participate in production meetings, offering dance-level timelines and rehearsal input; attend scheduled rehearsals and tech week as required.
• Communicate weekly with the Artistic Director regarding rehearsal schedules, choreography goals, and progress tracking.
• Maintain a safe rehearsal space and adhere to all health and safety protocols. Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in dance instruction or choreography, ideally within youth theater programs.
• Versatility across dance styles (jazz, musical theatre, tap) and strong ability to teach choreography to young performers.
• Strong instructional, leadership, and classroom/facility management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Reliable, organized, and professional with a passion for arts education and youth development.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in dance, theatre, or arts education or equivalent teaching/choreographic experience.

• Fingerprinting required upon hire.

Schedule & Compensation:

• After-school hours (3-6PM), 2-4 days per week, depending on the schedule.
• Hourly wage: $25-$28/hr, commensurate with experience.

$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
