Job Description

The Dance Director is responsible for leading the artistic, educational, and day-to-day program operations of the dance studio. This position ensures that students receive a consistent, high-quality experience while instructors and staff understand expectations, communicate effectively, and execute the studio's standards. The Dance Director serves as the primary leader of the dance program and is accountable for turning the studio's mission and vision into consistent action.
Core responsibilities include:
Lead, coach, schedule, and hold instructors accountable. Maintain consistent curriculum, teaching standards, and class quality. Oversee class placement, student progression, evaluations, and retention. Ensure instructors are prepared and classes begin and end professionally. Build a positive, disciplined, welcoming studio culture. Communicate clearly and proactively with dancers, parents, instructors, and leadership. Address parent, student, and staff concerns before they become larger problems. Coordinate performances, competitions, rehearsals, recitals, costumes, and studio events. Monitor enrollment and identify classes that need growth, consolidation, or additional support. Recruit, onboard, train, and develop teaching staff. Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback. Maintain appropriate staffing and substitute coverage. Implement studio policies and operating systems consistently. Participate in leadership meetings and report on the health of the dance program. Identify problems, propose solutions, and follow through until they are resolved. Protect the studio's culture, reputation, and student experience.
