This role combines front desk/reception work, interacting with and helping our dancers and families before and during classes, and some simple administrative tasks! The right candidate for this job likes working with kids/families, has strong customer service skills and written and verbal communication, likes detail, is organized, and is great at multi-tasking and owning/keeping track of/completing tasks without supervision. We're looking for someone to work September 2026 through June 2027, but this could absolutely be longer term, if you want to grow with us! We can guarantee 11-15 hours a week this school/dance year and some additional hours as sub coverage, when needed. These hours are set each week and are as follows: Mondays from 4:00-8:30pm Tuesdays from 4:30-9:00pm Fridays from 4:30-6:30pm
Experience/qualifications:
Experience Customer service experience is a must. Must be professional with our dancers and families in our lobby space and at events and with our vendors, community partners and staff in-person and via email and phone. Experience with young kids is a must. Childcare or experience with kids is a huge plus. Knowing how to interact with young kids, be able to meet them where they are, match their energy and keep a calm space when interacting with them is important. Experience with Google drive and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with social media, basic website design is a plus, but not necessary. Knowledge or experience with dance and/or dance studios is a plus, but not necessary. Qualifications Loves kids! Patient and kind. Someone who's on board with RDC's philosophies and community vibe. Responsible and reliable and will show up to every shift, and on time! Organized and detailed. Strong written and professional communication. Quick learner, proactive, thorough and resourceful. Someone who is proactive about finding answers to questions and figuring things out on their own, without a lot of supervision. While we do pretty in-depth training and you will have support, we're looking for someone who will take full ownership of their tasks every week. Ability to follow detailed directions, multi-task, keep on top of and track ongoing deliverables and deadlines and give regular status updates. Ability and willingness to always work afternoons/evenings. The bulk of hours will never change to morning or earlier in the day, unless working on a Saturday, as 2-9pm are our weekday business hours.
Job Description:
Duties will include, but are not limited to: Space management Opening and closing the space based on teacher needs for that day. Disinfecting/cleaning and re-stocking of studios, lobbies, bathrooms and office areas. Office/lobby, supply, lost and found organization and management. Creation of supply tracking and alert system so we don't run out of things. Customer service Checking dancers in for class during open hours and interacting with dancers/families. Helping young dancers with fitting borrowed shoes, going to the bathroom and getting water. You may also need to help dancers who need extra love, attention and/or supervision. Answering phones/voicemail, taking messages. Answering daily email and filtering to others. Being familiar with/using studio resources to answer questions about things like enrollment, accounts, policies, events, classes, etc. Administrative (actual tasks will be given based on experience and skill set) Basic reporting, updating and troubleshooting accounts in our registration system. Data entry, tracking and organization in Excel/Google Sheets and Word/Google Docs. Monthly tracking, management and email/phone communication with families about attendance, past due balances, uncategorized payments, etc. Potential management of social media accounts, if interested and have epxerience. Seasonal help with tasks like folding performance programs, planning events, etc. Help with preparation, organization, management and onsite work at live rehearsals and performances (December winter showcase and June recital) Hours School/dance year commitment: From hire date - June 13, 2027: You'd need to be able to commit to working the SAME hours every week during this time except for holidays and breaks when we're closed (we follow the SPS calendar). In-person Days/Hours Needed (11-15 hours per week)
Mondays:
4:00-8:30pm
Tuesdays:
4:30-9:00pm TBD (Only if you're interested in these extra hours) Thursdays from 3:30-8:15pm
Fridays:
4:30-6:30pm If you stay on at RDC past the 2026-27 school year, summer 2027 (July & August) and 2027-2028 dance session (Sept-June) will vary and schedule will likely change slightly for each session, with your input, preferences and approval. Occasional extra pre-scheduled days/hours around special events (picture days, rehearsals, performances) or special projects, if agreed upon.
