The Director of Film Programming leads Circuit Arts' film programming. They serve as the lead programmer for the annual Martha's Vineyard Film Festival, Summer Film Series, Drive-In at the YMCA, Fall Film Showcase, Dance Film Festival, Children's Film Festival, and other year-round film programs. The Director brings a distinctive curatorial perspective and deep knowledge of film to theanization, shaping programming that reflects Circuit Arts' artistic voice, serves its audiences, and distinguishes the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival within the broader film landscape. This position works closely with the Executive Director, senior film programmers, the programmingmittee, and themunity screeningmittee. They also collaborate with the broader Circuit Arts artistic team, including the Artistic Director of the Martha's Vineyard Playhouse and the Director of Circuit Music, as well as colleagues across marketing, production, operations, and development. This is a highly visible,munity-facing role. It requires strongmunication and public-speaking skills, enthusiasm for hosting screenings and conversations, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with filmmakers, industry partners, Circuit Arts patrons, and Martha's Vineyardmunities.

Executive Director Key Responsibilities Programming and Curatorial Leadership Curate film programs for the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival and all year-round Circuit Arts film presentations. Develop programming with a distinctive artistic identity that reflects Circuit Arts' mission and serves a broad range of audiences. Research, track, and solicit films for consideration. Negotiate screening availability and secure rights with filmmakers, distributors, sales agents, and other rights holders. Coordinate film bookings, exhibition formats, and delivery timelines with filmmakers, distributors, and internal production staff. Manage the festival submissions platform. Attend film festivals and industry events to scout films, cultivate relationships, and raise awareness of the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival and Circuit Arts. Identify opportunities to pair films with relevantmunityanizations, nonprofit partners, and sponsors. Cultivate relationships with filmmakers while contributing to year-round audience development efforts. Guests and Events Introduce programs and host screenings at the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival, Summer Film Series, and other year-round events. Moderate Q&As and facilitate conversations with visiting filmmakers, artists, speakers, and guests. coordinate guest participation and ensure a weing, wellanized experience for visiting talent. Strategy, Budget, and Fundraising Work with the Executive Director and Managing Director to establish an annual strategy, budget, goals, and performance targets for film programming. Plan and deliver programs within established budgets andanizational priorities. Contribute to the implementation of Circuit Arts' strategic plan, particularly as it relates to the growth and development of film programming. Support fundraising, sponsorship, and donor-engagement activities that sustain and expand the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival and year-round film programs. Team and Cross-Departmental Collaboration Manage and coordinate the work of additional programmers, the programmingmittee, and themunity screeningmittee. Collaborate with Circuit Arts' marketing, production, operations, development, andpany management teams to plan and execute successful events. Coordinate film programming with the broader Circuit Arts artistic team to identify opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Maintain clear programming calendars, decision-making processes, and internalmunication across multiple events and timelines. Community and Industry Relationships Build and maintain relationships with filmmakers, distributors, sales agents, filmanizations, and other industry partners in the United States and internationally. Develop partnerships withmunity leaders, nonprofitanizations, educators, and other Island-based groups. Work withmunity partners to co-create programming that is relevant, inclusive, and responsive to Martha's Vineyard audiences. Represent the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival and Circuit Arts at public events, professional gatherings, andmunity meetings.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in film programming, curatorial work, cultural or literary programming, artistic development, or a related field. Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to guide collaborative teams, build consensus, and manage multiple stakeholders. Excellent written and verbalmunication skills, including public speaking, moderating conversations, and engaging with patrons andmunity members. Stronganizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs, deadlines, and seasonal timelines. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency with Google Workspace and Slack, along with the ability to learn new platforms and systems quickly. Passion for independent film and audience engagement. Willingness and ability to travel periodically to film festivals, industry events, and partner meetings throughout the year. Because this role requires frequent participation in on-Island programs, partner meetings, and hosted events, preference may be given to candidates who already live on Martha's Vineyard or can reliably meet these in-person requirements.
