Job Summary Leads the praise and worship team in a blended setting to create an inspiring, relevant, and welcoming worship experience for all participants. Major components of the job include collaborating with the pastor and staff to develop, plan, and execute the worship plan and coordinating the technical, production, and support requirement for worship. Duties Commit to being spiritually prepared to minister to the congregation through music and word. Recruit, train and empower a team of vocalists, musicians, and children who are comfortable on stage and expressive in their praise and worship before God Be available to regularly meet with the pastor and staff to plan worship and meet weekly with the music team to direct practice sessions Inspire and encourage the congregation to participate actively in the service Plan and coordinate all music modalities for worship: song selection and technical requirements for a 10:30am Sunday blended worship service Provide worship/music leadership in other occasional services such as, but not limited to: Christmas Eve, Lenten and Easter services, funerals, and other special services as needed Evaluate and select music that is God honoring, relevant to the message, and within the expertise of the team Prepare the worship songs and other basic elements of the liturgy for Worship Tools. Ready to give to A/V team in timely manner Maintain a working knowledge of audio, visual, and lighting software and equipment Maintain a working knowledge of best practices in worship preparation and delivery Commit to and conduct regular planning meetings and effective rehearsals Provide the vocalists and musicians with necessary documentation and resources needed to complete their assigned tasks and optimize their gifts and talents Continuously review the worship experience to ensure its relevance to the congregation and direction of the church Oversee musical equipment needs Prepare an annual budget for music needs, recognizing the overall needs of the church Qualifications and Skills Previous experience as a people manager, exhibiting skills in leadership, recruitment, staff development, communication and coaching, and conflict resolution As a disciple of Jesus Christ, candidate is called to a music and teaching ministry Candidate must have experience as a worship leader in a blended setting, with the ability to set the tone and flow of the service using God's word, music, and enthusiastic connection with the congregation Candidate must have a professional and dynamic demeanor, and ability to inspire their team and congregation Candidate must be a gifted vocalist and musician, with technical skills in performance of live music and use of associated equipment Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about music with the ability to play a lead instrument in the praise band as a preference but not necessarily a requirement. Have a willingness to understand and support Methodist doctrine Education Requirements High school graduate or GED required. An Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis on music preferred but not required.
