We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Choir Director to lead our vocal ensemble in creating powerful, memorable performances that resonate with our community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for music, a talent for teaching, and strong leadership skills to motivate singers of all ages and skill levels. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to cultivate musical excellence, foster a collaborative environment, and bring joy through the art of choral singing. As a vital part of our organization, you will develop engaging rehearsals, select repertoire that challenges and inspires, and nurture the musical growth of each choir member.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
1. With the Pastor and the Music Team in consultation with the Worship Leader select special music for all worship services. There is currently one worship service each Sunday at 10:00 AM and various other special services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve. 2. Schedule, direct and choose music for the choir across multiple genres (traditional, contemporary, etc.) 3. Schedule and direct weekly and special rehearsals. 4. Recruit new members for the choir. 5. Present a minimum of 2 musical celebrations a year, including a Christmas musical worship experience, and one musical experience for the specific purpose of engaging and welcoming the larger community. 6. Be willing to explore opportunities to involve the children/youth of the church in worship through music. 7. Organize and maintain choir robes. 8. Provide a monthly written report to the Pastor for the Consent Agenda 9. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Pastor and the Worship Committee of the Session. 10. Attend Worship Committee Meetings
ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENTS
1.
Doing ministry/preparing for ministry:
three to four hours a week—more during special events 2.
Participating in meetings/training:
-two hours a month.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Work is performed within church building and grounds and around the community. Position may involve some travel to mission areas. Individual must be able to read music and direct and instruct musicians of varying experience levels.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required • One or more years of musical experience preferred
GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Director must possess near vision for reading sheet music and must have ample hearing to determine proper response by instrumentalists. Position may require standing for extended periods of time.
