In order to accomplish this task, the church has three objectives: welcome all people, equip its members in faith, and send members into the world to fill God's call to the world. The Worship and Music Ministry focuses on providing worship that is vibrant, authentic, engaging, and musically inspiring. The Director of Music is primarily responsible for:
Have primary responsibility for the planning, organization, execution and evaluation of Living Word's music ministries.
Provide musical leadership and mentoring for all worship services including organ, piano, contemporary music, choirs, and all other possible musical forms.
Lead worship rehearsals to encourage and mentor volunteers and equip them for their role as worship leaders and musicians.
Identify volunteers and encourage them to share their gifts and their faith throughout all Living Word's worship and music ministries.

Other Major Relationships:
Maintain good, effective working relationships and cooperate actively with all the other church personnel and church members to ensure that the objectives of the church are met. This job requires extensive interaction with pastors, staff, and contracted musicians. (education, skills, experience and traits) 1. As a director it is imperative to be a self-starter, a team player, an effective communicator, and able to respect and preserve confidential information. Significant experience in accompanying worship and coordinating music groups. Must be able to work well with all staff, volunteers and musicians of all abilities to further our music ministries. 2. Chorale direction experience preferred. 3.
Desired:
Bachelor's Degree
Plan worship and music for all regular, seasonal, festival and non-Sunday worship services in cooperation with the pastoral staff, attending staff meetings and leading worship planning session.
In coordination with the Lead Pastor administer the business affairs of the worship and music ministry including the developing of music budgets, overseeing expenditures, and projecting capital music purchases as well as the maintenance and care of all music supplies, equipment and instruments.
Lead and/or mentor leaders for all Sunday worship services providing the highest quality music and worship program possible with sensitivity both to the believer and non-believer through a variety of worship styles and experiences. (Current Sunday worship services are: 8:00am Traditional, 10:30am Contemporary)
Provide leadership and coordination of all musicians/musical groups and meet regularly with them to set goals and encourage growth.
Lead, direct, and/or mentor leaders of all choirs and other groups as needed to further the musical ministry. (Current choirs are: Adult, Bell, Jewels Children Choir, and Living Bells Children Bell choir)
Seek to expand worship and music opportunities for the congregation.
Maintain the music library and supervise the maintenance of all instruments (organ, piano, keyboards, Orff instruments, hand bells, etc.)
Maintain professional competency by practicing, performing, attending continued education opportunities, teaching workshops or seminars, and reading professional journals. Recruiting
Recruit and coordinate musicians, guest musicians and musical groups for worship in cooperation with the pastoral staff.
Train all musicians participating in the music ministry; recruit and facilitate participation from all age groups within the congregation.
Make available new resources and ideas to music ministry participants. Relationships
Actively participate in all staff meetings and staff development activities.
Meet regularly with the pastors to plan worship and set ministry goals.
Work closely with all music ministry leaders and volunteers.
