Organization Description Since 1996, Top Achievers Foundation has been empowering students to achieve high levels of success through programs including Basketball, Mentoring, E-Sports, STEAM, and Financial Literacy. Our A.E.D. Framework - Assessment, Exposure, and Direction - developed by our Founder, Lawrence Mann, guides each student toward their potential. Our graduates have gone on to succeed in various fields, and our leadership team, consisting of top professionals in the North Texas Community, is dedicated to shaping the future. Position Summary Music serves as the "Arts" component of Top Achievers' STEAM pillar, giving students hands-on exposure to musical experiences that spark and build genuine interest in the art form. The program's goal is to translate that exposure into tangible growth by delivering at least one public performance each fiscal year, showcasing student progress and reinforcing skill development. The Music Director is responsible for planning, operating, and executing the Top Achievers Music Program across all represented communities, with a primary emphasis on vocal development. This leader serves as the architect of program design, culture, structure, and expansion (when/where appropriate/feasible) - ensuring music operates as a creative, skill-based platform within our STEAM pillar and a gateway into the broader Top Achievers comprehensive youth development model. This role blends strategic leadership, operational management, and curriculum development. The Music Director is accountable for program excellence, student vocal and musical skill development, and volunteer instructor management. Key Responsibilities1. Program Planning & Execution Design and/or implement comprehensive music programming aligned with the Top Achievers mission, focusing on vocal development. Develop and/or implement age-appropriate curriculum frameworks centered on vocal development — including vocal technique, sight-singing, and ensemble/choir performance — with supporting instruction in music theory, instrumental basics, and music production Oversee weekly engagement sessions, rehearsal scheduling, recital and performance participation, and annual calendar planning Ensure operational excellence across all active sites Work with TA Leadership to ensure website and social media are robust in their messaging, outreach, and recruitment efforts for Music 2. Content Development Develop and/or implement lesson plans and topics that build vocal skill progressively — including breath support, tone, pitch accuracy, and ensemble/choir singing — while integrating supporting instrumental and music production exposure into the broader youth development experience Equip and hold self & volunteers accountable for reinforcing Five Pillar engagement, setting clear expectations that student development includes participation across all program components, not solely musical skill-building 3. Community Program Development In partnership with TA leadership, identify and expand into new communities strategically Build and maintain relationships with schools, houses of worship, performance venues, and community partners to provide access to unique opportunities and partnerships that enhance the Music program's impact. In partnership with TA leadership, evaluate community readiness and long-term sustainability 4. Operations Management (As necessary) Manage staffing structure within communities, including regular team meetings that inspire and motivate instructors toward common goals and regularly define success metrics Ensure compliance with organizational policies and safety standards In partnership with TA Leadership, create and implement the annual operating plan aligned with organizational priorities, driving measurable outcomes In partnership with TA leadership, track participation, retention, and impact metrics to ensure Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Operating Plan goals are achieved Maintain and manage vocal training equipment (microphones, sound reinforcement), instruments, and recording/production technology used for instruction Maintain minimum class/group size targets at each site to ensure program financial sustainability Effectively manage budget and resources to ensure longterm program sustainability 5. Brand & Communication Oversight Guide music-related social media presence and storytelling Ensure messaging reflects Top Achievers' standards, brand, and culture Collaborate with TA leadership on marketing and recruitment initiatives Design and implement engagement strategies that intentionally connect students to all Five Pillars of the Top Achievers model, ensuring participation extends beyond vocal and musical skill-building into comprehensive youth development
Bachelor's degree in vocal performance, music education, choral conducting, or related field preferred, not required. Equivalent experience considered as a substitute.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a vocal/choral educator, including direct instruction of students in individual, small-group, or classroom settings. Additional progressive leadership experience in vocal/choral instruction, music education, program management, or a similar environment required. Demonstrated experience planning, operating, and executing multi-site or scalable programs preferred. Proven track record of leading teams, supervising instructors or staff, and driving measurable outcomes preferred.
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of vocal technique, vocal pedagogy, and choral/ensemble direction, with working knowledge of music theory, instrumental instruction, and music production/technology, curriculum design, and youth-focused program management. Demonstrated awareness of local, regional, and national vocal/music education initiatives and competitors. Ability to pass required background check Passion for supporting youth and educational success Strong communication and relationship-building skills Commitment to serving students from diverse backgrounds Patient, dependable, and encouraging demeanor Ability to represent the organization publicly with professionalism and credibility Time Commitment Approximately 4-6 hours per week, including travel and community engagement.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 2.0 - 6.0 per week
