Status:
Part-time Employee Required Availability:
10am - 12pm (Sundays); 6:00-8:00pm (Available Weeknight); Special Events as scheduled/mutually agreed
Stipend:
$7,500.00 (salaried); Additional compensation as negotiated for Special Events (i.e. weddings, funerals)
Probationary Period:
Six months Job Summary Enhances the worship experience through musical gifts and talents. Responsible for accompaniment of church choir and the provision of appropriate music during worship services and other church events. TPCC seeks a musician skilled in both piano and guitar to support a flexible, blended worship style, choir accompaniment, congregational singing, and future praise band development. Essential Functions Attends and accompanies choir at all rehearsals Accompanies choir anthems on piano, organ, or guitar as appropriate at worship services and other seasonal services Works collaboratively with the Music Director to support choir preparation, rehearsal flow, and worship leadership Supports blended worship and praise band development Provides accompaniment on piano and/or guitar to support a blended worship style Assists with future development and accompaniment of a praise band or other contemporary worship ensemble Demonstrates flexibility in supporting both traditional and contemporary musical styles Selects voluntary music which coincides with the liturgical year Selects prelude, offertory, postlude, or other service music appropriate to the tone and theme of worship Informs the Office Manager of titles of musical selections for bulletin by Wednesday of each week, as requested by the Music Director Informs Music Director of organ, piano, guitar-related, or sound equipment needs as appropriate Verifies that maintenance for piano or organ has been completed Attends monthly meeting to plan worship, as requested by the Music Director Provides musical related ideas/suggestions for worship Maintains professional working relationship with Music Director, choir members, church staff, and other musicians Assures proper filing of organ, piano, and other music owned by church Communicates scheduling conflicts, absences, or special music needs in a timely and professional manner Qualifications Ability to read choral music Proficient on piano Proficient on guitar Ability to accompany congregational singing, choir anthems, and blended worship music Ability to collaborate with other staff and ensemble members Ability to support both traditional and contemporary worship styles Dependable, flexible, and comfortable working in a progressive Christian church setting
