School-Year/Full-Time Qualifications:
Advanced piano skills Advanced music theory Vocal technique preferred Sight reading, conducting, transposing, arranging and coaching skills
Job Responsibilities:
Assist the teacher in a music classroom - ability to play the piano for class and performance Under the direction of the vocal music teacher, he/she will accompany school choirs during rehearsals, concerts, assist the director I the leading of section rehearsals and concerts, and the coaching of the individuals, small ensembles and instrumentalist with the school system Perform piano accompaniment of practice rehearsals, and performances for the school choir. This includes concerts, in addition to District/State Choral Festival, Jazz Festival, Solo & Ensembles, as well as other opportunities that may be available for students. Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student areas for growth, vocal modeling for proper technique, correcting mistakes and providing the right notes and rhythms. Coach solos and ensembles by arranging or transposing music, teaching note and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching healthy vocal techniques, providing suggestions regarding interpretation of music and encouraging students. Provide assistances to substitute teachers by leading rehearsals as necessary.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Reaching :
Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Lifting :
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Grasping :
Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Talking :
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing :
Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound. Repetitive motions : Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is subject to environmental conditions. The worker should provide consistent and reliable in person attendance.
