At Hometown Insurance Agency of Long Island, we're looking for someone who does careful, accurate work and follows through every time. You'll need a solid foundation in commercial insurance. You don't need to know everything on day one. We have established procedures, a structured onboarding plan, and experienced colleagues who will train you in commercial construction insurance. What you bring is a commitment to learning the work thoroughly and doing it well. Steady work that matters Business owners depend on us to protect what they've built. You'll manage a defined book of commercial accounts. You'll keep every renewal, change, and submission on track, and turn complicated policy language into clear, reliable guidance. Your work will include:
Manage your accounts from start to finish. Handle day-to-day servicing, answer coverage questions accurately, and see every issue through to resolution. Keep every transaction accurate and on schedule. Prioritize your workflow and follow agency procedures for applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, policy changes, certificates, and carrier binding requests. Market and track submissions. Prepare new and renewal submissions for carrier and wholesale markets and track each one from quote through binding. Analyze coverage and spot what others miss. Review exposures, coverage, and loss history to identify gaps, and recommend appropriate solutions, including additional coverage a client may need. Master construction coverage. Learn construction risks and how to cover them. Present options clearly. Lay out renewal and remarketed options with plain, accurate coverage explanations so clients understand exactly what they're buying. Retain clients through consistency. Earn long-term trust with dependable service, timely follow-up, and no missed deadlines. Document everything. Keep accurate records and follow internal workflows, procedures, and service standards. Keep building knowledge Grow through training, webinars, and continuing education. Qualifications Valid New York State Property & Casualty License required. Minimum of three years of commercial insurance experience with an independent insurance broker required. Experience marketing commercial accounts to carrier and wholesale markets preferred. Commercial construction insurance experience is a plus but not required. We will train you. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines accurately. Clear, precise written and verbal communication. A calm, professional, and dependable approach with clients and colleagues. Ability to research and resolve problems independently. Experience with carrier portals, agency management systems, and Microsoft Office.
