Overview:
The Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) is a not-for-profit professional association and is one of the most progressive veterinary associations in the country. Our members represent a wide array of practice types and medical focus areas, working to ensure animal and human health. We serve more than 2,300 veterinary professionals each year through continuing education, advocacy, and resources to help them practice excellent veterinary medicine. MVMA is currently operating on four strategic pillars: education, advocacy, community, and resources. Position Summary:
The Director of Meetings & Events is a critical member of a small staff team empowered to help implement the strategic plan of MVMA. The Director of Meetings and Events reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is primarily responsible for ensuring efficient and profitable association events.
Key Responsibilities:
Meetings & Events Develop and implement annual event strategies aligned with organizational goals Create and manage event budgets Negotiate contracts and maintain vendor relationships Evaluate event performance and prepare post-event reports Manage registration processes and attendee communications Marketing & Communications Manage marketing campaigns promoting events Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements Sponsorship & Exhibit Development Develop exhibitor and sponsorship recruitment strategies Maintain relationships with sponsors and exhibitors Ensure fulfillment of sponsorship benefits Collaborate with staff to identify new revenue opportunities Member Services Serve as liaison to assigned committees and volunteer groups Support member communications related to events Gather member feedback to improve event experiences The Director of Meetings & Events may also be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Work to be conducted primarily in a traditional office setting. However, travel may be required throughout the state of Michigan. Occasional travel outside the state may be required. In addition, some evenings and weekends may be required. Prolonged periods of computer use, sitting, standing and/or walking. Some lifting required (up to 50 lbs). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in hospitality preferred Minimum 2 years related experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Proficient with project management, budgeting, & vendor relations Proficient with MS Office•Word, Excel and Outlook Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to manage time and meet deadlines Comfortable working in collaboration with others or independently
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range:
$65,000 to $85,000
Benefits:
Medical, Dental, and Vision for employee and family as well as STD and LTD for employee 401K Sick time, PTO and Holiday pay
