Position Overview - Relationship Manager The Relationship Manager plays an important role in creating and maintaining an exceptional client experience. This individual works closely with Financial Advisors and the broader team to ensure clients receive responsive, personalized, and proactive service. The Relationship Manager serves as a trusted day-to-day resource for clients and helps coordinate the many details involved in delivering comprehensive financial planning and investment management services. This role requires someone who enjoys building relationships, takes ownership of responsibilities, communicates confidently and professionally, and is able to anticipate client and team needs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, personable, and proactive. They are comfortable managing multiple priorities, solving problems, coordinating with internal and external partners, and following through from start to finish. Responsibilities & Activities Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and develop strong, professional relationships built on trust and responsiveness Partner closely with Financial Advisors to coordinate client service and ensure a seamless client experience Communicate proactively with clients regarding requests, follow-up items, account activity, paperwork, and next steps Coordinate with custodians, insurance companies, CPAs, attorneys, and other professional partners as needed Prepare, process, and maintain accurate client documentation and records Coordinate account openings, transfers, distributions, contributions, beneficiary updates, and other client service needs Manage, track, and complete assigned tasks and follow-up items in a timely manner Maintain organized electronic client files and ensure documentation is complete and accurate Monitor outstanding client requests and proactively follow up to ensure timely resolution Identify opportunities to improve the client experience and enhance internal service processes Collaborate with team members to manage workflow, priorities, and deadlines Help ensure clients receive consistent, high-quality service across all areas of their relationship with the firm Support client meetings and other relationship-management activities as appropriate Expectations Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information Take ownership of responsibilities and follow through from beginning to end Effectively prioritize and manage daily, weekly, and quarterly responsibilities Demonstrate initiative, accountability, sound judgment, and attention to detail Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with clients, colleagues, and outside professionals Maintain a client-first mindset and consistently look for ways to improve the client experience Work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team-oriented environment Adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate a willingness to learn new systems and processes Pursue ongoing professional development, including relevant licenses and certifications as appropriate Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all client and business interactions Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients Strong organizational and time-management skills Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise good judgment Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Familiarity with CRM systems, financial planning software, custodial platforms, and financial services technology is a plus Familiarity with financial services, investment accounts, financial planning, or regulatory/compliance processes is a plus Ability to learn new technology, systems, and processes quickly Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team A professional, positive, and service-oriented approach Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent experience required Bachelor's degree in business, finance, communications, or a related field preferred Prior experience in client service, financial services, wealth management, banking, insurance, or a professional office environment preferred Experience in an administrative, client service, or relationship-management role is a plus FINRA or investment-related licensing is not required at hire but may be required or encouraged as responsibilities develop Job Type Full-time Benefits 401(k) 401(k) matching Health insurance Life insurance Employee assistance program Paid time off Flexible schedule Professional development assistance Tuition reimbursement Education Associate degree or equivalent experience required Work Location In person - Traverse City, MI Relocation Candidates must be willing to relocate to Traverse City, Michigan before starting employment if not currently local.
