•based sales, distribution, warehousing, and printing capabilities with an established manufacturing and supply-chain network in China. Our customers include foodservice distributors, restaurant suppliers, coffee and beverage businesses, regional chains, and other packaging customers throughout the United States. About the Role UniPack is seeking a highly communicative, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Account Manager
•International Supply Chain to manage assigned customer accounts and coordinate communication between our U.S. customers and China supply-chain team. This is not a traditional logistics coordinator position. The Account Manager serves as the primary U.S
•business-hours contact for assigned customer accounts , handling daily customer communication, order visibility, problem resolution, account retention, and account development. Each Account Manager works closely with a China-based International Supply Chain Coordinator responsible for factory production, supplier coordination, quality, samples, export preparation, and other China-side supply-chain activities. Because our China team operates while the U.S. team is offline, the Account Manager begins each U.S. business day by reviewing overnight customer communications and supply-chain updates and then assumes primary customer coverage from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Eastern Time .
Our objective is simple:
customers should experience UniPack as one coordinated team , rather than separate U.S. and China operations. Excellent communication, judgment, organization, and follow-through are essential for this position. Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Account Ownership Serve as the primary U.S
•business-hours contact for assigned customer accounts. Develop strong working relationships with assigned customers. Understand each customer's products, specifications, ordering patterns, service requirements, and business priorities. Respond promptly and professionally to customer emails and phone calls. Handle order inquiries, product questions, samples, quotations, order changes, delivery questions, and other account needs. Coordinate internally to obtain answers and resolve customer requests. Follow outstanding issues through completion rather than simply forwarding requests to another department. Maintain continuity and consistency in customer communications. Identify potential customer dissatisfaction or account risks early and escalate when appropriate. This position requires frequent professional communication by both email and phone . Candidates must be comfortable independently speaking with customers, explaining order status, answering questions, and managing difficult conversations when problems occur. 2. Daily U.S
•China Account Handoff Work as a paired team with UniPack's China-based International Supply Chain Coordinator. At the beginning of each U.S.
business day:
Review emails and customer communications handled during Asia business hours. Review production, sample, quality, shipment, and other order updates received from China. Understand any commitments or expectations communicated to customers overnight. Review outstanding questions and required follow-up actions. Identify inconsistencies, missing information, or potential misunderstandings. Clarify issues internally when necessary. Ensure the U.S. and China teams communicate a consistent message to customers. Assume primary customer communication responsibility during U.S. business hours. Reliable availability from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Eastern Time is an essential requirement of this position. 3. Order & Supply Chain Visibility Maintain a complete understanding of assigned customer orders from order confirmation through final delivery. The Account Manager should understand and monitor: Customer purchase orders Product specifications Pricing and quantities Artwork and printing approvals Samples Production schedules Expected production completion Quality issues Container and loading plans ETD and ETA Ocean shipment status U.S. arrival Warehouse availability Final customer delivery The Account Manager is not expected to duplicate the operational work of the China Supply Chain Coordinator, freight forwarders, warehouse personnel, or other specialized teams. Instead, the Account Manager is responsible for understanding the information provided by these teams, identifying its impact on the customer, following up on unresolved matters, and communicating accurate information to the customer. 4. Customer Issue Resolution Take ownership of the customer-facing side of problem resolution. Issues may include production delays, quality concerns, artwork or printing issues, quantity discrepancies, shipment delays, damaged shipments, delivery problems, inventory shortages, or customer complaints.
Responsibilities include:
Gather accurate information from the appropriate U.S. or China-side team. Understand the customer's concern and business impact. Keep the customer appropriately informed while an issue is being investigated. Coordinate proposed solutions internally. Avoid making commitments that have not been confirmed by the responsible team. Escalate significant commercial, quality, delivery, or relationship risks to management. Follow issues through final resolution. 5. Account Development & Retention The Account Manager is responsible not only for servicing existing business but also for helping assigned accounts grow. Develop a strong understanding of each customer's overall packaging requirements. Identify products currently purchased from other suppliers that UniPack may be able to provide. Identify opportunities for additional cup sizes, lids, printed products, containers, paper products, and other packaging categories. Identify opportunities to convert customers from unprinted to customized printed packaging. Monitor ordering patterns and identify meaningful increases or decreases in customer activity. Identify upcoming programs, seasonal requirements, new locations, or product launches. Develop relationships with relevant purchasing, operations, and management contacts within customer organizations. Coordinate quotations, samples, and product-development opportunities with Sales and the China supply-chain team. Proactively identify and document account-growth opportunities and coordinate with Sales to convert qualified opportunities into additional business. Identify accounts at risk and alert management early. Account development should be based on customer needs and long-term relationships rather than aggressive short-term selling. Sales remains responsible for new-business acquisition, major pricing negotiations, and key commercial decisions. The Account Manager owns the ongoing customer relationship, service, retention, and development of assigned accounts. 6. Customer Forecasting & Supply Planning Work with customers and internal teams to improve visibility into future demand. Discuss expected order schedules with customers. Collect customer forecasts where available. Identify unusual changes in purchasing patterns. Highlight major upcoming orders, seasonal requirements, promotions, new locations, or customer expansion. Communicate expected demand to Sales, the China supply-chain team, and U.S. Operations. Help the company plan appropriately for long-lead-time imported products. The Account Manager provides the customer-demand perspective . Warehouse personnel remain responsible for warehouse inventory reporting and control. 7. CRM & Account Documentation Maintain accurate and useful records for assigned customer accounts. Maintain current customer and contact information. Record important customer requirements and account information. Track quotations, samples, opportunities, open issues, and follow-up actions. Document important customer commitments and communications. Maintain account information in the Company's CRM/ERP system as required. Ensure another team member can understand the current status of an account from the information recorded in the system. Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in account management, customer service, sales support, order management, supply chain, logistics, or another B2B customer-facing role preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong professional phone and email communication. Strong organizational and follow-through ability. Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and open issues simultaneously. Strong attention to detail. Ability to understand operational information and translate it into clear customer communication. Comfortable working with international teams and across time zones. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment. Good judgment regarding customer commitments and when issues should be escalated. Preferred Qualifications B2B account-management or customer-service experience. Experience working with overseas manufacturing or suppliers. Experience in foodservice packaging, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain. Basic understanding of international shipping and ocean freight. Experience with CRM or ERP systems. Experience managing recurring customer orders. Mandarin Chinese capability is a plus, particularly for coordination with the China supply-chain team, but is not required. Industry and international supply-chain experience are preferred, but we are willing to train a strong candidate who demonstrates excellent communication, organization, judgment, and learning ability. What Success Looks Like Success in this position means: Customers receive timely and professional responses during U.S. business hours. U.S. and China teams provide customers with consistent information. Overnight China-side activities are reviewed each morning and handed off seamlessly. Customer commitments and open issues are consistently followed through. Potential production, quality, or delivery problems are identified and communicated early. Customers trust their Account Manager to understand both their business and UniPack's supply chain. Existing accounts are retained and customer relationships become stronger. Account-growth opportunities are systematically identified and developed with Sales. Customer forecasts and future requirements become more visible to UniPack.
