About the Firehouse Center for the Arts The Firehouse Center for the Arts is a vibrant nonprofit arts organization and performing arts venue in downtown Newburyport, Massachusetts. The Firehouse presents a diverse calendar of theater, music, dance, film, visual arts, and community programming while serving as an important cultural resource for the greater Newburyport community. Position Overview The Firehouse Center for the Arts is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Marketing Coordinator to support the organization's marketing, communications, institutional development, and audience engagement efforts. The Marketing Coordinator will play an important role in promoting institutional story-telling, supporting development communications, coordinating direct-mail campaigns, and creating engaging visual materials across print and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with an eye for design, excellent organizational skills, and experience using Canva, WordPress, and Google Drive/Google Workspace. Experience working in the arts, nonprofit, theater, or cultural sector is a plus.
Key Responsibilities include:
Institutional and Development Marketing ? Support marketing and communications initiatives related to the Firehouse's institutional, fundraising, membership, sponsorship, and development efforts. Create and coordinate materials that communicate the organization's mission, impact, programs, and fundraising priorities. Assist with donor, member, sponsor, and community communications. Develop promotional materials for annual campaigns, fundraising appeals, special events, and development initiatives. Help maintain consistent branding and messaging across institutional communications. Direct Mail and Print Marketing ? Coordinate direct-mail campaigns from planning through production and distribution. Prepare mailing materials, including postcards, brochures, letters, appeals, newsletters, and other print collateral. Coordinate with vendors, printers, mailing houses, and internal staff as needed. Maintain accurate timelines, files, mailing lists, and campaign materials. Assist with tracking and organizing campaign materials and results. Graphic Design ? Create compelling graphics and layouts for print and digital marketing using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and other related graphic design tools. Design promotional materials for events, fundraising campaigns, memberships, and institutional initiatives. Adapt existing branding and creative assets for multiple formats and platforms. Maintain a consistent visual identity across marketing materials. Organize and maintain digital design files and marketing assets. Website and Digital Content ? Update and maintain website content through WordPress, including event information, images, announcements, and institutional/development content. Assist with keeping website information accurate, current, and visually engaging. Organize and manage digital assets through Google Drive/Google Workspace. Support other digital marketing and communications efforts as needed. General Marketing Support ? Collaborate with the Firehouse team on marketing calendars, campaigns, and promotional initiatives.? Assist with coordinating marketing deadlines around the theater's performance and event schedule.? Help gather information, images, and other materials from artists, performers, staff, and community partners.? Monitor and organize marketing materials and maintain an efficient workflow.? Provide additional administrative and creative support to the marketing and development functions as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, nonprofit communications, or a related field. Strong proficiency with Canva and demonstrated ability to create polished, professional marketing materials. Working knowledge of WordPress and website content management. Proficiency with Google Drive and Google Workspace. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread carefully. Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team. An understanding of branding, visual communication, and marketing best practices. Comfort working in a fast-paced arts and entertainment environment. Experience with direct mail, fundraising/development communications, or nonprofit marketing is highly desirable. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms, social media, or other marketing tools is a plus. Schedule and Work Environment Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week On-site at the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA Schedule may be flexible and will be determined in coordination with the organization, with some flexibility around performance and event schedules. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be requested in connection with special events or organizational needs.
