07/21/2026 Position Summary The Marketing & Event Coordinator will perform a variety of duties with the goal of marketing and planning special events primarily for the Grandview Parks & Recreation Department. This individual assumes responsibility for creating content, digital and print, for Parks & Recreation including social media, website, brochures, video, flyers, etc.; and coordinating events at the Grandview Amphitheater based on the City's Strategic Plan and Communication goals. This position will also provide support for City communications as needed. This requires working nights, as necessary. Some travel within the City is required to cover events and meetings. This is a 40-hour per week position which requires some weekends, evening and holidays as needed for various City events and activities. This position reports directly to the Communications Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The duties listed are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned . Assists with implementing communications strategies for internal and external special events, including festivals, fundraising, and joint community events Book, market and oversee concerts/events at Grandview Amphitheater Forge relationships within the community for future sponsorship opportunities Maintain advertising and promotional calendar and assist with campaigns as assigned Contribute to maintaining and updating content on the City websites Create social media content for Parks & Rec channels and assist with City channels as needed Design, write and/or create promotional materials, brochures, flyers, videos, and direct mail Interacts with co-workers at all levels in the organization in a collaborative and customer service-oriented manner Take photographs and video footage Gather tracking metrics for regular reporting to management of email campaigns, social media efforts, web leads, etc. Provides support in the broadcast of live public Board of Aldermen meetings All other duties as assigned Minimum Education, Qualifications, Certifications, and Licenses Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field and one year of experience performing related duties; or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job Possess advertising rights on Meta platforms Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record Preferred Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, or closely related field Three years of progressively responsible experience in Multimedia Communications or Marketing Graphic Design experience is highly desirable Photography and videography experience is highly desirable Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written communications Ability to develop, organize, and coordinate a communications program Ability to gather and verify information through observation and research; analyze communication problems, evaluate alternatives and make creative recommendations Ability to prepare presentations, reports and other written materials in a timely manner; prepare and present a variety of communications materials; write and edit newsletters and news releases; prepare flyers and reports; edit all materials for proper punctuation and grammar Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees, and the public; coordinate activities with other divisions and City departments Knowledge of fundamentals of photography, video-photography and cable-casting Knowledge of software applications including graphics and desktop publishing systems Ability to attend special City events/meeting including weekends, evenings and holidays, as required Physical Requirements Mobility to work in a standard office environment, use standard office equipment and attend off-site meetings Sit at a desk for long periods of time; intermittently walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach while performing office duties Ability to perform event setup outdoors; lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment; and walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach Manual dexterity to use standard office equipment and supplies Vision to read handwritten and printed material and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and by telephone Work Environment Work is performed both inside and outside with possible exposure to extreme temperatures when assisting with events and may require frequent walking on uneven or slippery surfaces. Mobility to work in a standard office environment, use standard office equipment and attend off-site meetings; daily interaction with all department teams and the general public. Occasional driving is required to attend special meetings at various City facilities, training sites, and public and private events
