Development & Communications Assistant Part-Time | 20-25 Hours per Week | Hybrid Position Summary Reports to: Director of Development, who is fully accountable for this role.

$20-$25/hr Position Overview Yesterday's Gone is seeking an organized, creative, and proactive Development & Communications Assistant to support the Director of Development with social media, donor management, administrative responsibilities, fundraising initiatives, events, and community engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by people, enjoys variety, can take a task and run with it, and is equally comfortable walking into a business or a church and starting a conversation, creating social media content, maintaining donor records, preparing materials for an event, or making a quick local pickup You will be a visible face of Yesterday's Gone in the community, and you will see the results of your work in the room: donors met, sponsors signed, events full. If you like a fast pace, a full calendar, and owning a project from the first call to the thank-you note, this is built for you. This is a local position. In-person presence is part of the job, not an occasional add-on The goal of this position is to keep day-to-day communications and administrative details moving so the Director of Development can focus on fundraising, grants as they transition, donor relationships, partnerships, and strategy. Key Responsibilities Social Media & Communications Manage the day-to-day operation of Yesterday's Gone social media accounts Build, maintain, and execute the social media content calendar Create, edit, schedule, and publish posts, stories, and short-form video content Write engaging, on-brand captions Capture photos and videos at programs, meetings, and events Monitor comments, messages, and engagement Track basic social media performance and analytics, and provide weekly social media and email figures for the Director of Development's weekly report and monthly board report Create and update simple graphics and collateral as needed Support donor campaigns as directed, including the monthly-donor campaign, Donate-a-Workbook campaign, Blessed to be a Blessing campaign, and End of Year Giving Campaign. Assist with email marketing and other communications Donor Relationships, CRM, & Development Administration Accurate records are what make every follow-up call, thank-you, and invitation possible. This part of the job is the engine behind the relationships. Maintain and manage the organization's donor CRM (Bloomerang) , ensuring donor and supporter information remains accurate, organized, and up to date Serve as the point person for website contact-form submissions: acknowledge within 24 hours, route to the right team member, enter each contact in Bloomerang under the correct group (lead, volunteer, or donor), and log when each form was received, when it was answered, and who was tagged in. Ensure volunteer inquiries and applications are entered in Bloomerang as leads, whether or not the person becomes a volunteer Enter and update donations, donor information, interactions, notes, and other relevant records Clean up and complete existing Bloomerang records as gaps are identified by the Director of Development Maintain donor, sponsor, partner, and prospect contact information Maintain the shared development calendar in the team's designated platform Assist with donor acknowledgment and stewardship processes, including loading the Bloomerang task series at the time of gift, working in-kind gifts within 24-48 hours, and preparing handwritten notes, cards, and tour invitations Prepare thank-you letters, acknowledgment materials, and mailings Maintain development spreadsheets, contact lists, digital files, and records Assist with routine donor and sponsor follow-up Track development deadlines, sponsorships, campaigns, and upcoming activities, including fulfillment of sponsor benefits by level Distribute the season sponsorship package one-pager to business donors as directed Prepare materials for donor meetings, presentations, sponsorships, and events Pull donor information and reports as needed Complete general administrative tasks that support fundraising and development efforts Events, Outreach & Community Join outreach call blocks and in-person visits, and make the ask as assigned by the Director of Development Assist with planning and executing fundraising, donor, and community events Help with event setup and teardown Prepare signage, packets, displays, swag, and other event materials, including the giving board (donation amounts with a QR code) that travels to every event Prepare cohost and host invitation packets for events Make occasional local pickups and deliveries Capture photos and videos during events Maintain inventory of marketing, event, and outreach materials Attend community meetings, donor meetings, and fundraising events as needed, and provide in-person support for corporate sponsorship and church outreach General Support Take ownership of delegated projects from start to finish Assist the Director of Development with scheduling, organization, and project coordination Help the Director of Development track items received from the Executive Director through to completion, so each has a disposition and a date Assist with special projects and emerging needs Handle routine tasks that allow the Director of Development to focus on high-level development, fundraising, relationship building, and strategy Other duties as assigned What We're Looking For • Naturally outgoing and comfortable starting conversations with donors, business owners, church leaders, and community partners Persuasive in person and in writing, and comfortable making an ask Motivated by visible results and a fast pace; takes charge of a project and drives it to done Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Comfortable working independently and taking initiative Strong written communication skills Comfortable with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and short-form video Basic graphic design skills; Canva experience preferred Comfortable learning and maintaining CRM/database systems; Bloomerang experience a plus Proficient with spreadsheets, email, and common office technology Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines Willing to jump between creative, administrative, and hands-on tasks Local to the area and able to provide reliable in-person support (required) Previous nonprofit, development, marketing, social media, or administrative experience is a plus but not required. We care most about finding someone who is organized, creative, eager to learn, and gets things done. Schedule & Work Environment This is a part-time, hybrid position averaging 20-25 hours per week with the potential to grow to full time . The Development & Communications Assistant will be expected to work in person at least one day per week , with additional in-person days set by the Director of Development based on the outreach and event schedule, with the remainder of regular work having flexibility to be completed remotely. Additional in-person availability will be required for team meetings, donor or community meetings, fundraising events, and other organizational events as needed. Some events may occasionally take place during evenings or weekends. This position reports directly to the Director of Development.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 25.0 per week
