Advertising Coordinator Maternity Leave Sept. 2026 - Jan. 2027 Coverage with Possibility of Ongoing Role Are you a highly organized and customer-focused individual with a passion for local news? Sound Publishing Inc. is seeking a proactive Advertising Coordinator to join our team at the Peninsula Daily News office. This is a maternity leave coverage position with the possibility of an on-going role and an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and possesses strong interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions:

The primary function of this position is to provide support for the sales team; assisting them in the sales details, advertising fulfillment in both print and digital platforms and within the advertising department. The successful candidate will coordinate paperwork, facilitate communication between the customer, creative artists, press, sales consultants, and management.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain knowledge of Sound's publications and capabilities Work directly with the advertising, press, and creative teams Schedule special sections and pre-print inserts. Effectively coordinate and/or assist with the publication of special sections and other projects as assigned Schedule preprint, print, digital and special section advertising Coordinate and schedule obituaries Coordinate and schedule classified ads Answer incoming calls and direct appropriately  Handle walk-in customers Assist sales consultants in keeping track of customer contract details and adbookings Stock sales material and run weekly and monthly reports. Assemble media kits, presentations and sales material packages. In-house sales as needed for local products. Maintain an updated daily task list. Help with any special newspaper events, organizing, attending and planning/selling. Meet assigned deadlines for all products. Help increase office efficiency; keep filing and other systems neat and current. Assist customers with such services as ad design, ad scheduling, billing Present circulation and demographic information for our newspapers as requested by callers or inquiring businesses; delegate to Advertising Sales Consultants for follow up Process ad material in a timely manner, with clear, complete layout and billing instructions Provide accurate, organized, efficient support resulting in elimination of make goods and credits due to errors. Adhere to company credit policies and guidelines. Facilitate ad design for customers, ad scheduling and billing. Maintain professional and positive image in and out of the office. Make effective use of business hours by maintaining effective work and time management practices. If necessary, assist in obtaining advertising copy for the customers' ad campaign and communicate effectively with the sales consultants. Serve as main contact for clients and maintain the sales consultant's territory when out of the office, on vacation or sick leave. This would include handling all insertion order placement.
