Position Summary Sheraton Garden Grove - Anaheim South is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to provide leadership for the hotel's sales efforts and drive revenue performance across rooms, group business, catering, banquet, and other key market segments. The Director of Sales is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to achieve budgeted revenue goals, strengthening client and account relationships, identifying business opportunities, and providing leadership and direction to the hotel's sales team. This position works closely with the General Manager, Revenue Management, Ownership, and other hotel leaders to evaluate business opportunities, optimize market mix, and support overall hotel profitability. While the position is primarily focused on sales leadership and revenue generation, the Director of Sales may also be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and participating in marketing-related activities and initiatives based on the needs of the hotel. This may include digital marketing, hotel positioning, marketing campaigns, promotional initiatives, and coordination with internal or external marketing resources. The position currently provides direct leadership to a sales team consisting of a Catering Sales Manager, Sales Manager, Sales Coordinator, and Reservations Coordinator. Key Responsibilities Sales & Revenue Performance Lead the hotel's sales efforts across rooms, group, catering, and banquet business Develop and implement sales strategies consistent with the hotel's budget, forecast, and revenue objectives Review market trends, customer demand, and competitive activity and adjust strategies as appropriate Work closely with Revenue Management to support rate, availability, inventory, and market-mix strategies Monitor sales pace, account production, revenue performance, and profitability Identify opportunities to strengthen the hotel's market position and generate additional business Participate in important client negotiations and business-development opportunities Oversee group business and support appropriate utilization of function and meeting space Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, business partners, and brand stakeholders Sales Team Leadership Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and direction to the sales team Establish individual and departmental performance expectations Monitor sales activity, leads, calls, conversion, and production Help team members develop client relationships and achieve established revenue goals Provide ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns when necessary Provide clear and constructive feedback while maintaining professionalism and respect Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive working environment Marketing & Business Positioning Assist with the development and execution of the hotel's annual marketing plan and budget Coordinate hotel marketing activities with internal and external partners Oversee or participate in digital marketing initiatives, including website performance and SEO Review marketing campaign performance and results Support promotional programs and other initiatives designed to increase hotel visibility Identify opportunities to strengthen market penetration and brand awareness Ensure marketing activities are aligned with the hotel's sales and revenue objectives Reporting & Hotel Leadership Prepare and present sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports Monitor sales pace, segmentation, production, and profitability Maintain accurate sales pipelines, records, and supporting documentation Ensure appropriate use of Marriott systems, sales tools, and related resources Participate in daily stand-ups, weekly sales meetings, and hotel leadership meetings Communicate sales performance, opportunities, and concerns to hotel leadership and Ownership Client, Industry & Community Engagement Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, community activities, and networking functions Develop appropriate follow-up strategies to convert leads and contacts into booked business Attend and host client events Conduct site tours and sales presentations Participate in hotel sales activations and business-development activities Support a high level of guest and client satisfaction for booked business QualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Experience 4-6 years of hotel sales and marketing experience Minimum 2 years in a senior sales leadership role Experience in a full-service hotel environment strongly preferred Skills & Knowledge Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills Demonstrated ability to drive revenue and achieve sales objectives Knowledge of hotel sales, marketing, and revenue-management principles Experience with Marriott systems and sales platforms preferred Previous trade show and industry-event experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Experience with PMS systems such as Lightspeed preferred Experience with CRM systems such as CITY preferred Experience with ADP or similar HRIS/timekeeping systems, including responsibility for approving timecards, meal periods, and PTO for hourly team members, strongly preferred Work Environment Professional business attire required Primarily office-based with frequent interaction throughout the hotel Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting of up to 15 lbs.
