Job Summary The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, profitability, growth, and operational performance of three Resource Building Materials (RBM) locations located in Antioch, Sacramento, and Modesto, California. This position provides direct oversight of Branch Managers and approximately 20+ employees across the region while driving sales growth, customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and safety performance. The Regional Sales Manager is accountable for regional P&L performance, strategic planning, employee development, inventory management, vendor relationships, and customer engagement. This role works closely with key customers, vendors, and company leadership to execute business initiatives and achieve revenue, margin, and market share goals. Responsibilities and Duties Leadership & Management Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to Branch Managers and store personnel. Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures for all locations. Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing employees. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities. Foster a positive, customer-focused, and results-driven culture. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Financial & Operational Management Maintain full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the Northern California region. Develop and execute annual sales, margin, and operating plans. Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as necessary. Analyze sales trends, expenses, inventory levels, and market opportunities. Improve operational efficiencies and productivity across all branches. Ensure accurate inventory management and asset control practices. Sales & Business Development Drive profitable sales growth throughout the region. Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, architects, and other key customers. Partner with sales teams to identify new business opportunities and increase market share. Support branch teams in resolving customer concerns and delivering exceptional customer service. Collaborate with Branch Managers to achieve sales and profitability targets. Develop strategies to increase customer retention and account penetration. Vendor & Strategic Planning Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers. Participate in strategic planning initiatives with vendors and major customers. Identify opportunities for product line expansion, market growth, and competitive advantages. Negotiate and coordinate regional programs that support sales and profitability objectives. Monitor industry trends, competitive activities, and market conditions. Safety & Compliance Champion a culture of safety throughout all locations. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety programs. Conduct regular branch visits, safety audits, and operational reviews. Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions. Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training and follow established procedures. Customer Relations Maintain strong relationships with key regional customers. Resolve escalated customer issues professionally and promptly. Promote a high level of customer satisfaction across all locations. Represent RBM in the local business and construction communities. SKILLS Strong leadership and people management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strategic planning and organizational skills Financial analysis and P&L management experience Sales leadership and business development expertise Negotiation and relationship-building skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Inventory and operations management knowledge Time management and project management skills Advanced computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications Ability to manage multiple locations and priorities effectively Knowledge of building materials industry preferred Bilingual skills are beneficial but not required
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Construction, Sales, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of management experience in building materials, distribution, construction products, or related industries. Proven experience managing multiple locations and/or regional operations. Demonstrated success with sales growth, customer development, and profit improvement. Experience managing budgets and P&L performance. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel regularly between regional locations and customer sites. ________________________________________

Travel between Antioch, Sacramento, Modesto, and future Northern California locations. Conduct branch operational reviews and performance meetings. Meet with customers, vendors, and community business partners. Review financial reports, sales performance, and inventory metrics. Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes. Support sales teams and branch management with business development initiatives. Conduct employee coaching, performance management, and training activities. Lead regional meetings and company initiatives. Monitor safety performance and compliance requirements. ________________________________________
JOB CONDITIONS
Full-time exempt position. Regular travel throughout Northern California. Combination of office, retail showroom, warehouse, and customer jobsite environments. May require occasional evening or weekend work based on business needs. Frequent interaction with customers, employees, vendors, and company leadership. ________________________________________
