Senior Sales Operations Manager

Job Description

This Management position is a key leadership position responsible for driving sales growth, delivering exceptional customer service, and supporting the day-to-day operations of a locally owned lumberyard and hardware store. This individual serves as the General Manager's second-in-command and leads by example through strong customer relationships, employee development, operational excellence, and a commitment to serving the local community. This position requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable working on the sales floor, assisting customers, coaching employees, solving operational challenges, and helping achieve company goals. Primary ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership Lead by example in providing outstanding customer service. Build and maintain relationships with homeowners, contractors, farmers, and commercial customers. Assist customers with estimating material needs and recommending products. Prepare and follow up on customer quotes. Increase sales through upselling and cross-selling opportunities. Help achieve monthly and annual sales goals. Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly. Operations Management Assist with the daily operation of the lumberyard, hardware store, and warehouse. Ensure merchandise is properly stocked, displayed, and priced. Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Coordinate deliveries and customer pickups. Help manage opening and closing procedures. Ensure company policies and safety standards are followed. Team Leadership Supervise and coach employees on customer service and productivity. Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members. Conduct daily huddles and communicate company goals. Provide ongoing feedback and performance coaching. Help create employee schedules based on business needs. Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with scheduling and labor management. Review daily sales and operational reports. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as: Sales volume Gross margin Quotes completed vs. sold Average ticket Delivery performance Inventory accuracy Support purchasing and vendor relationships. Assist with inventory counts and audits. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of retail, hardware, building materials, or related management experience. Strong customer service and communication skills. Proven leadership experience. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work both indoors and outdoors. Preferred Experience in the lumber or building materials industry. Knowledge of hardware products, construction materials, and estimating. Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain). Experience reading blueprints or construction plans. Monday-Saturday with rotating Saturdays and occasional extended hours during seasonal demand.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
