Job Overview:

B&K Construction is seeking an experienced and driven Heavy Civil Estimator/Project Manager/Business Development professional to lead our estimating department, oversee projects, and support the continued growth of our company. This leadership role is ideal for an individual with strong heavy civil construction experience who can successfully prepare large scale estimates, manage the preconstruction process, assist with project execution, and help develop new business opportunities particularly within the private sector. The selected candidate will primarily work from our office in Mandeville, Louisiana, while collaborating closely with company leadership, project managers, and superintendents. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a key role in the estimating, operational, and strategic growth of a well-established heavy civil contractor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the company's estimating and preconstruction efforts.
• Ability to handle multiple large scale bids simultaneously.
• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates, bid proposals including best value packages, schedules, takeoffs, and cost analysis.
• Identify project specific risks and develop creative solutions that will provide a bidding advantage.
• Interpreting plans and specifications on heavy civil projects pertaining to pile driving, structural concrete, utility construction, mass excavation, drainage pump stations, sewer lift stations, levee construction, floodwall construction, other heavy civil work, and a general understanding of marine related construction.
• Perform site visits, attend pre-bid meetings, and participate in bid openings as required.
• Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop competitive and accurate bids.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bid pricing.
• Assist with project management responsibilities including planning, scheduling, procurement, project tracking, and project closeout as needed.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with an emphasis on expanding private sector work.
• Attend industry and networking events as needed to develop new avenues of growth.
• Support company leadership in strategic growth initiatives and client development.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• Ability to prepare large scale heavy civil construction estimates.
• Extreme proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid or an equivalent software.
• Familiar with Best Value Bid Proposals.
• Experience with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or an equivalent software.
• Project management experience in heavy civil projects to include: structural concrete, levee and floodwall construction, braced excavations, infrastructure, or large utility construction.
• Strong industry relationships and an established network within the construction sector to drive business development, secure new opportunities, and support company growth.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• 5 Years minimum Heavy Civil Construction experience is required.
• 3 Years minimum US Army Corps of Engineers project experience is preferred.

Pay:

$90,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
