The Utility Cashier receives all cash, checks and credit cards payments for utility bills, meter deposits, Ambulance payments, various franchise fees and miscellaneous other revenues. Takes applications for new electric and water service and sets up new customer accounts on the computer. The cashier counts funds to verify amounts and issues receipts for funds received and issue change. The cashier verifies receipts, post payments to accounts and balances receipts, compiles collection reports and prepares bank deposits for the City Treasurer. Create ACH for customer bank drafts and submit to bank for processing. Post late fees to accounts and process accounts for disconnection for non-payment. The cashier works final accounts and sends collection letters to customers. Cashier does extensive customer service on phone and in office with customers. Cashier files various receipts, letters and customer applications. Create work orders for various customer requests such as vapor light repair, water leak, gravel in drive, etc. Post late fees to accounts and process accounts for disconnection for non-payment.
