Responsibilities Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process customer purchases, returns, and exchanges. Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other payment methods with precision and integrity. Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos. Upsell products and promote store specials or new merchandise to enhance sales opportunities. Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring all merchandise is properly displayed through merchandising and stocking duties. Manage stock levels at the register area, restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations. Demonstrate products when appropriate to educate customers about features and benefits. Enforce store policies on phone etiquette, ensuring clear communication with customers over the phone or in person. Assist in inventory management by conducting stock counts and supporting merchandising initiatives. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a seamless shopping experience for all customers. Requirements Previous cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment is preferred. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer needs better. Experience supervising or leading team members is advantageous but not required. Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for transactions and inventory counts. Knowledge of grocery store operations, retail sales techniques, and merchandising practices is beneficial. Excellent phone etiquette for professional customer interactions over the phone. Demonstrated ability to upsell products confidently while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and perform stocking duties as needed.
