Salt Lake City, UT Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Achieving large sales Managing customer accounts Software sales Sales experience within government Team leadership Sales experience within healthcare Profit & loss Bidding project phase Managing budgets in a finance role IT Business development within healthcare Corporate sales environment Request for proposal B2G Business operations Profit and loss analysis General management Technology sales Full Job Description About Our Client Our client is an investment and operations company that acquires and operates proven software businesses with significant growth potential in a variety of vertical markets, enabling each company to become a market leader in its niche. Its portfolio spans Human Resources Technology, Fleet Telematics, Asset Management, E-Health, Document Management, and other innovative software solutions. Our client is supported by a group of advisors and investors who have built large-scale software businesses, ranging from $10 million to $100 million in ARR, and have advised many others. The company is at the beginning of a decades-long journey, and every decision reflects this long-term perspective. Company Overview The position will oversee two already established software vertical businesses, each with decades of operational history, strong profitability and deep integration into its customers' day-to-day operations. Both companies serve government health and human services agencies throughout the United States. One provides the system used to record employees' daily work, while the other manages communication between those agencies and the communities they serve. About the position You will lead both businesses as a single operational executive responsible for two separate P&Ls. This is a practical role, with no corporate team role under your responsibility and no management layer between you and the client. You'll personally participate in renewal conversations, review RFPs, price offerings, and determine product priorities. The mandate is to ensure sustainable growth and profitability, in that order, while protecting the trust these companies have built with their customers over many years. Main Responsibilities Growth and Revenue Take ownership of the annual budget and organic growth goals for both businesses—draft the plan, defend it, and implement it. Take on the combined revenue target, build the pipeline, and personally carry a quota until there's someone credible to take charge. Build a repeatable go-to-market model in companies where growth has historically relied on relationships rather than structured processes. Take responsibility for sales, renovation, and public bidding activities in a single deal, while your founder moves on to act as a consultant, ensuring there are no gaps in customer coverage. Assess whether both customer bases can be sold effectively. Prove the opportunity through signed contracts or complete the assessment and redirect resources accordingly. Retention Own Gross Revenue Retention (GRR) and Net Revenue Retention (NRR) in both businesses. Understand why customers leave, address the underlying causes, and establish a structured retention process for at-risk accounts. Build and personally maintain relationships with the top 20 accounts across both client portfolios. Profitability and Capital Allocation Own both P&Ls and ensure that every dollar spent is justified. Determine the proper allocation of resources between product, sales, service, and administration, adjusting the mix as the business plan requires. Manage cash flow as rigorously as profitability, including working capital, collections, and deferred revenue. People and organization Evaluate both teams objectively by retaining and developing employees who can grow with companies while addressing gaps in performance or capabilities. Establish a clear leadership structure between the two companies, which employees understand and can operate effectively. Product Set the roadmap for both products based on revenue impact and customer value, rather than internal preferences. Determine if and how the two products should integrate and evaluate the business value of this connection to customers. Mandatory Qualifications Direct ownership of results and accounts of a software business generating approximately $3 million to $15 million in revenue. Applicants must have owned the overall outcome of the business, and not a single role within a larger organization. Experience selling to governments, the public sector, or regulated healthcare organizations, with a practical understanding of procurement processes, RFPs, tenders, and grant cycles. Willingness and ability to perform sales activities directly, rather than managing just one sales team. Strong understanding of functional P&L management, with the ability to reallocate resources without relying on a CFO. Experience taking over a business from a long-time founder or leader while retaining key customers and employees. Willingness to travel approximately one week per month between two locations. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience in public health, community health, human services, or health IT. Experience in recurring revenue businesses, where renewals and customer retention are critical to performance. Experience managing two business units, brands or product lines simultaneously. Experience working in a permanent capital structure, holding company or family office. This position is not suitable for First-time General Manager looking for an opportunity to learn the role. Executives of large organizations who need extensive teams and infrastructure to operate effectively. Leaders whose expertise is primarily based on growth funded by venture capital backed by significant external capital. Candidates whose immediate plan would be to merge the two brands during the first year.
