We sell direct-to-consumer, through roughly 20 independent boutiques nationally, and at 2 to 3 maker markets every weekend across California. The market booth is one of our strongest sales channels. Customers approach on their own, the brand does the introduction for us, and conversion is high. We are hiring someone to take ownership of that booth. Position Summary The Weekend Market Salesperson operates a Regular Ass Candles booth independently at maker markets and craft fairs. This is a full-cycle role covering transport, setup, sales, and breakdown, with primary accountability for revenue at each event. Following a paid training period, the incumbent runs assigned markets solo. Key Responsibilities Transport inventory and booth equipment to and from assigned market locations Set up and break down a 10x10 booth, including display, signage, and merchandising Engage customers, present the product line, and close sales throughout the market day Operate Shopify POS, process transactions, and reconcile sales at end of day Maintain booth appearance, restock product, and manage inventory levels during the event Track and report daily sales figures, inventory counts, and customer feedback to the founder Represent the brand voice accurately and consistently to customers, market organizers, and neighboring vendors Submit accurate timesheets for each shift worked Qualifications Required Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license Availability on most weekends, including early morning load-in Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in prior work Strong interpersonal skills and genuine comfort initiating conversation with strangers Ability to work independently for the full duration of a market day without direct supervision Comfort representing a brand with a deliberately irreverent name, including fielding the same joke repeatedly with good humor Preferred Prior retail, hospitality, event, or direct sales experience Familiarity with Shopify POS or comparable point-of-sale systems Experience with maker markets, craft fairs, or trade shows Physical Requirements With or without reasonable accommodation, this position requires: Lifting and carrying boxes weighing up to 40 pounds repeatedly during load-in and load-out Standing and walking for shifts of 8 to 10 hours Bending, reaching, and kneeling during booth setup and restocking Markets are held under canopy or indoors. Compensation and Benefits $22.00 per hour, paid semi-monthly 10% commission on booth sales, paid per the terms of a written commission agreement
