Bethel, Pa Job Summary:

The Egg Market Specialist develops and manages spot-market egg trading opportunities by sourcing supply, placing product, structuring profitable trades, and building relationships with producers, breakers, distributors, further processors, retailers, and other traders. The position is primarily office-based and requires strong market judgment, negotiation, numerical accuracy, disciplined risk management, and periodic travel to farms, customers, and industry events. Rushtown Poultry produces approximately 3.5 million eggs per day across 23 farms and operates its own feed mill, fleet, and grading operation. The Egg Market Specialist uses this operational visibility and transportation capability to identify market imbalances and connect available supply with customer demand.

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain relationships with egg producers across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond; understand which counterparties are long, short, approaching a change in position, and financially reliable. Sell product to breakers, distributors, further processors, retailers, and other traders based on product requirements, pricing, and customer needs. Structure and price trades while accounting for egg cost, freight, fees, total cost stack, and expected gross margin. Manage trading positions responsibly within assigned authority and risk limits and provide accurate daily position reports marked to market. Identify spot relationships that may support annual agreements and assist with long-term contract negotiations. Provide an honest weekly market assessment explaining pricing trends, market conditions, opportunities, risks, and unfavorable calls. Clear new counterparties and establish credit exposure limits before making commitments. Comply with established stop-loss rules and report losses or adverse positions promptly and accurately. Travel periodically to farms, customer docks, and industry events to strengthen market knowledge and business relationships. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the egg trading platform and company operations. Performance Expectations First 90 days: Learn company costs and farm operations; build a mapped list of at least 50 counterparties, including volumes, specifications, payment behavior, and recurring supply positions; execute initial matched trades. Months 4-6: Generate independent deal flow, accurately calculate load-level cost stacks, establish repeat counterparties, and deliver a defensible weekly market assessment. Months 7-12: Operate a self-supporting book within the approved risk band and source or support long-term contracts.

Year two:

Serve as a reliable internal authority on egg-market conditions and opportunities.

Preferred Experience:

Demonstrated success carrying and achieving a measurable revenue, margin, or sales target in commodity trading, merchandising, or relationship-driven business-to-business sales. Experience may come from grain, dairy, produce, protein, feed ingredients, freight, or another market where negotiation, pricing, and relationship management are central. Strong negotiation ability, including the judgment to hold a price, recognize when flexibility is necessary, and protect long-term relationships. Numerical fluency and the ability to calculate margins, freight, and cost stacks quickly and accurately under time pressure. Ability to learn the egg market rapidly and develop working expertise within approximately six months. Sound judgment, personal credibility, disciplined reporting, and the ability to acknowledge and report losses promptly. Egg-industry experience and existing egg-market relationships are not required; product, grading, breaker-market, and supply-cycle training will be provided.

Education And Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education in business, economics, agriculture, finance, supply chain, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience in trading, merchandising, commodity markets, freight, procurement, or business-to-business sales is required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and demonstrated professional success may be considered.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work for extended periods using a computer, telephone, and multiple screens in an office environment. Ability to communicate frequently by telephone, email, video meeting, and in-person interaction. Ability to travel periodically to farms, customer locations, docks, and industry events. Ability to enter and safely navigate agricultural, warehouse, grading, and customer facilities when required, with or without reasonable accommodation.
