Consignment Organization Associate Laughlin Auctions Inc. - Edinburg, Virginia Position Summary Laughlin Auctions Inc. is seeking a dependable, motivated, and organized Consignment Organization Associate to assist with preparing consignments for online and live auctions. This hands-on position is suited for someone with prior knowledge of antiques, collectibles, tools, equipment, household merchandise, or other auction-related property. The associate will help evaluate, sort, organize, group, stage, and prepare merchandise for auction. The ideal candidate should understand how organization, presentation, and proper lot grouping affect both efficiency and auction results. Primary Responsibilities Receive, unload, and organize consignments. Sort merchandise by category, quality, value, and auction suitability. Evaluate items to develop a general understanding of value and marketability. Group merchandise into logical auction lots based on type, quality, and estimated value. Identify antiques, collectibles, tools, equipment, furniture, household goods, and other merchandise. Stage items for photography, cataloging, preview, and auction pickup. Tag, label, and help maintain accurate inventory. Assist with estate pickups and consignor deliveries. Move furniture, equipment, and merchandise safely throughout the facility. Maintain clean and organized warehouse, gallery, and work areas. Assist with customer pickups and consignor drop-offs. Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, and other material-handling equipment safely. Handle consignor property carefully and follow established company procedures. Perform other auction-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience with antiques, collectibles, tools, farm equipment, furniture, household merchandise, firearms-related merchandise, or similar property is required. Prior experience organizing, sorting, merchandising, evaluating, reselling, or handling personal property is strongly preferred. Applicants should be prepared to provide a brief background describing their previous knowledge and experience with merchandise organization, identification, evaluation, and understanding values. Ability to recognize quality, age, maker, brand, condition, usefulness, and marketability when reviewing merchandise. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to group merchandise appropriately based on category, quality, and potential value. Self-motivated with a positive and professional attitude. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining good attendance. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and remain active throughout the workday. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Basic computer and smartphone skills are preferred. Auction house, estate liquidation, antique shop, resale, warehouse, retail merchandising, or appraisal-related experience is beneficial. Schedule Full-time or part-time positions may be available. Regular scheduling is Monday through Friday.
