The Parts Specialist supports the Northwest Fire District in its mission to save lives, protect property, and care for our community by providing inventory, administrative, and operational support to Fleet Services. This position performs a variety of duties related to parts management, materials handling, and inventory control to help ensure the maintenance and availability of District vehicles and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains accurate inventory records for fleet parts, supplies, and related materials using the District's fleet and inventory management systems. Receives, inspects, stocks, organizes, and issues parts and supplies to support fleet maintenance and repair activities. Processes and tracks inventory transactions to ensure accurate documentation and accountability of parts and materials. Monitors inventory levels and notifies appropriate personnel of inventory needs to support operational requirements. Assists with obtaining parts, supplies, and materials as needed to support Fleet Services operations. Picks up, delivers, and transports parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and other District items between vendors, District facilities, and other designated locations as needed. Maintains organized, clean, and secure parts storage areas and inventory locations. Conducts cycle counts and assists with physical inventories to verify inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies. Assists in identifying obsolete, excess, or slow-moving inventory and supports inventory reduction and disposal efforts. Prepares and maintains inventory and parts usage records and reports. Assists Fleet personnel in locating, identifying, and obtaining parts and materials needed for maintenance and repair activities. Supports the efficient operation of Fleet Services by maintaining accurate records, ensuring parts availability, and following established inventory control procedures. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel, vendors, and suppliers. Complies with the rules, policies, and procedures as set forth by the District. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High School diploma or GED equivalency Three (3) years of experience in automotive or medium/heavy truck parts, or a related field OR Any combination of education, certification, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered •A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency is required for all positions at Northwest Fire District. Must be attained within sixty (60) days of hire: Northwest Fire District Civilian Driver Training Course Forklift Train the Trainer Course Must be attained within twelve (12) months of hire: ASE P1 - Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist ASE P2 - Automobile Parts Specialist
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Driving Position:
This position requires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for the pre-employment background check process. Based on Arizona State Law, upon the date of hire and throughout the period of employment, the employee must present and possess a valid Arizona Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record, see Obtaining a Driver's License.
