Position Summary We are seeking a part-time Retail Associate who is friendly, engaging, attentive, and genuinely excited to connect with people. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming atmosphere, helping guests discover products and creative possibilities, and contributing to a retail environment that feels more like an inspiring studio than a traditional store. Retail Associates are responsible for providing exceptional, personalized service while supporting the day-to-day operation and presentation of our retail space. The ideal candidate is naturally outgoing and comfortable initiating conversations with guests, proactively offering assistance without being intrusive, and creating enough warmth and energy that people feel invited to step inside, browse, and stay awhile. This role requires both strong customer service and a proactive approach to retail. We are looking for someone who can make guests feel genuinely welcomed while helping them find something they are excited to take home. Key Responsibilities Welcome every guest warmly and create a positive first impression Proactively engage with guests and provide thoughtful, personalized assistance based on guests' interests, projects, and creative goals Recommend products, supplies, and creative projects with enthusiasm and good judgment Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently Process purchases, returns, exchanges, and other transactions according to company policies Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing merchandise displays Restock merchandise, maintain accurate inventory, and communicate supply needs to management Receive, unpack, price, label, and organize incoming merchandise Keep the retail space, workstations, and guest areas clean, organized, and inviting Educate guests about products, classes, workshops, and other club offerings Support club operations as needed to ensure a seamless guest experience Provide hosting support for gatherings and events as needed Maintain tools, equipment, merchandise, and supplies in excellent condition Handle guest concerns with patience, professionalism, and good judgment Model respectful, positive communication at all times Required Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to connect with a wide variety of people Comfortable initiating conversations and engaging guests proactively Strong customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping others Ability to make thoughtful product recommendations without being overly sales-driven Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team Basic computer and point-of-sale skills, or willingness to learn Commitment to treating every guest with kindness and respect Preferred Qualifications Previous retail, hospitality, customer service, or front-of-house experience Experience in a craft, art, boutique, studio, or specialty retail environment Personal interest or experience in arts, crafts, sewing, fiber arts, fine arts, or other creative disciplines Familiarity with common craft materials, tools, and supplies Experience with inventory management or merchandising Experience working with children and/or families Experience with Shopify or another point-of-sale system Ability to teach or demonstrate basic creative techniques CPR/First Aid Training (or willingness to obtain) Child Abuse/Background Check (or willingness to obtain) Work Environment & Expectations Must be comfortable interacting with people of all ages Ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods Ability to lift and carry boxes or merchandise as needed Comfortable working in a lively, customer-facing environment Weekend and/or evening availability preferred Must be comfortable taking initiative and engaging guests without waiting to be approached Professional Presentation As part of maintaining the elevated and polished atmosphere of our club: All staff will be asked to adhere to a dress code appropriate to the role (apron - provided by the employer) Overall appearance should be neat, professional, and aligned with a high-end, creative environment Staff are expected to present themselves as warm, attentive, and welcoming representatives of the club What We Value Most While retail experience is important, we prioritize associates who: Engage warmly, naturally, and authentically Are comfortable striking up a conversation with a new guest Notice when someone needs help and take the initiative to offer it Help guests feel inspired rather than pressured Take pride in keeping the store beautiful, organized, and inviting Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule
