PawHaus Resort

Dog and Guest Experience Lead

Job Description

PawHaus Resort | Goodrich, TX (Lake Livingston) | Full-time, on-site | $50,000 to $55,000 base plus quarterly revenue share About PawHaus PawHaus Resort is Houston's first dog-first luxury resort. Twelve ÖÖD Mirror House units on 30 lakefront acres near Lake Livingston, opening January 2027. Dog-first is not a tagline here, it is the operating model. Dogs get a groomer on site, a nature dog park, an indoor play area, a bed in every unit, and their own name on the amenities waiting at check-in. We know every dog's name before the car doors open. Guests get the mirror houses, food trucks on property, a camp store, and a spa. Our tagline is "Luxury has gone to the dogs," and we mean it literally. We are hiring the person who runs the dog side of all of it. The role Two things are true about this job. First, everything a dog touches here is yours. The grooming operation, the dog park, the indoor play area, the amenity program, and the policies that keep a property full of dogs safe and happy. Second, you are a manager on duty at a luxury resort. Guests will find you. You will greet arrivals, solve problems, and set the tone for the property on the days you are on. Our Operations Manager runs housekeeping, maintenance, and the physical property. You run the dogs and the guest experience on your shifts. You work different days and different hours, so between the two of you the property always has someone in charge. You will be one of the first people on the ground before we open. You are not stepping into someone else's system. You are building it. What you will own The dog program Oversee the grooming operation. Our lead groomer and backup groomer look to you for scheduling, standards, and guest satisfaction. You are not in the tub. You are making sure the chair stays full and every dog leaves looking like the photo the owner is about to post. Run the Nature Dog Park and the indoor play area. Rotation rules, capacity limits, temperament screening, supervision standards, cleaning cadence. Own the personalization standard. Every dog's name is known before arrival and shows up on their amenities. That is the whole difference between us and everywhere else, and holding it is your job. Write and enforce dog policy. Vaccination requirements, behavior attestations, what happens when a dog shows aggression, what happens when a dog gets loose. Own the dog amenity program. Welcome bags, in-unit dog setups, the dog treat and product lineup in the camp store, photo sessions. Build the dog experience calendar. Enrichment, group activities, seasonal events. Whatever makes someone book a trip with their dog instead of boarding them. Manage dog-side vendors. Trainers, the on-call vet, groomers, and the brands behind our dog retail. The guest experience on your shift Serve as manager on duty. You are the senior person on property during your hours. Own the arrival experience. Every guest gets greeted and every dog gets greeted first. Handle guest issues in the moment. Solve it, or know exactly who solves it and hand it off cleanly. Train the guest services team on dog handling so the standard holds when you are off. Watch reviews and act on what they say about the dog experience. The team Direct oversight of the grooming team and guest services staff on your shifts. Hiring, scheduling, coaching, and standards for the dog side as we grow toward 20 units. Who we are looking for You should have Two or more years at a dog or pet resort, boarding facility, dog daycare, veterinary practice, grooming salon, or training facility, with at least some of it leading a team Experience supervising people. You have built a schedule, set a standard, and held someone to it. Full hiring and firing experience is a plus, not a requirement. Deep dog knowledge. Body language, temperament, breed differences, and the ability to see the moment play is about to stop being play. This is the one thing we will not compromise on. Guest-facing experience of some kind. Resort, hotel, restaurant, retail, or veterinary front of house. You can hold a real conversation with someone paying resort rates. Someone who picks up software fast. We run Cloudbeds and Square. You do not need to have used them. Reliable transportation. We are in Goodrich and there is no getting here without your own vehicle. The physical ability to be on your feet all day, work outdoors in Texas weather, safely handle large dogs, and occasionally lift 50 pounds or more. Bonus points Dog training or behavior certification (CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, IAABC, or similar) Pet first aid and CPR certified You have opened a property before Grooming background, even though you will not be grooming here Fear Free certification Not required: a hospitality degree. We care about what you have run, not where you studied. If you have the dog instincts and the people skills but you are missing something on this list, apply anyway and tell us what you would bring instead. We are hiring one person and we will read every application. Schedule Thursday through Monday, 10:00am to 6:00pm. Tuesday and Wednesday off. Same hours every day you work, no rotating shifts. You are on the floor for check-in every day you are here, which is when the dogs arrive and when this job matters most. This is a resort. Weekends are the job. Every Saturday, every holiday weekend. If that does not work for your life, this is not the right role and we would rather you know now. Compensation and benefits $50,000 to $55,000 base salary, depending on experience $500 per month build bonus from November through March, tied to named deliverables while we get the property open 3% revenue share on the dog service lines you run, starting Q2 2027 and paid quarterly. Grooming, dog daycare and sitting, dog run bookings, paid play area sessions, photo sessions, and dog retail. Calculated on net revenue. Uncapped, and it grows as the property grows. $400 per month toward your health insurance through our ICHRA, starting after 90 days Flexible PTO Company laptop and monthly phone stipend Your dog comes to work with you. Dog park, play area, and daycare are free for your dog, every shift. Complimentary monthly grooming for your own dog Comp nights in an ÖÖD Mirror House, plus team rates at PawHaus and Cameron Ranch Glamping and a friends and family code PawHaus gear on us, and camp store and retail at cost Certification reimbursement for training, behavior, and pet first aid credentials Sauna and spa access at team rates A paid day each year to volunteer at a shelter or rescue of your choice Start date and what the first 60 days look like Target start: November 2026. You will not have guests on day one. You will have a construction punch list, a blank set of SOPs, and a groomer to onboard. Your first weeks are spent writing the dog policies, speccing the play area rules, building the amenity program, and getting the whole dog operation ready before the first guest pulls in. If you have ever worked somewhere and thought "I would run this completely differently," this is the job where you get to. Where this goes This is the first role of its kind in the company, and that matters. PawHaus opens with 12 units of a planned 20, and it is not the only property we intend to build. Whoever builds the dog program here writes the playbook that every property after this one runs on. If you do this well, the natural next step is running the dog program across properties instead of at one, and we would rather promote the person who invented it than hire someone to inherit it. We are not going to put a title and a date on that in a job posting, because we do not make promises we cannot schedule. But if you are the kind of person who wants to build something that outgrows the job you were hired for, this is that job. How to apply Apply through Indeed with your resume. We read every one. In your application, answer these three: Tell us about a dog behavior situation you handled. What happened and what did you do? What have you managed? How many people, for how long, and what were you accountable for? Are you available Thursday through Monday, including every Saturday?
