40 per week Position Overview Margie's Haven House is seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on Retail & Donations Manager to help establish and operate our new nonprofit resale shop in Heber Springs, Arkansas. The shop is currently being developed, and the selected candidate will play an important role in preparing for its opening, organizing merchandise, establishing daily routines, and helping develop store policies and procedures in collaboration with the Executive Director. Once operational, the manager will oversee day-to-day store activities, assist customers and donors, supervise retail staff and volunteers, and help maintain an organized, welcoming, and efficient shopping environment. This is a working management position. The manager will be expected to participate directly in donation processing, cleaning, pricing, stocking, merchandising, and other daily tasks alongside staff and volunteers. Revenue generated by the resale shop will help support the mission and services of Margie's Haven House. Key Responsibilities Store Setup & Development Assist with preparing the resale shop for opening, including organizing merchandise, arranging displays, and setting up work areas. Work with the Executive Director to develop and refine store policies, procedures, and daily operating practices. Assist with establishing procedures for donation intake, merchandise processing, pricing, inventory organization, customer service, and opening and closing. Participate in training and implementation of the point-of-sale (POS) system and related procedures. Daily Store Operations Oversee daily retail activities and help ensure the store operates efficiently and safely. Open and close the store according to established procedures. Operate the register and POS system, process transactions, and follow cash-handling procedures. Assist with organizing, pricing, displaying, and replenishing merchandise. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers, donors, staff, and volunteers. Monitor merchandise levels and communicate operational needs to the Executive Director. Donations & Merchandise Receive, sort, inspect, clean, price, and organize donated merchandise. Help establish and maintain an efficient donation-processing system. Determine appropriate merchandise placement and assist with displays. Identify items that cannot be accepted or sold according to organizational guidelines. Help maintain orderly donation, storage, and sales areas. Staff, Volunteers & Customer Service Provide day-to-day guidance and support to retail staff and volunteers. Assist with training staff and volunteers on store procedures and customer service expectations. Help coordinate daily assignments and maintain adequate coverage. Greet customers and donors, answer questions, and assist with purchases. Address routine customer concerns and refer significant issues to the Executive Director. Promote a respectful, professional, and welcoming environment. Safety & Accountability Follow organizational policies regarding safety, confidentiality, cash handling, and access to the facility. Help identify operational or safety concerns and report them promptly. Maintain accurate records as required by established store procedures. Communicate regularly with the Executive Director regarding store operations, staffing needs, and opportunities for improvement. Qualifications & Skills Retail, customer service, supervisory, or related work experience preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to provide friendly, professional customer service. Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and take initiative. Willingness to learn new systems and help develop procedures for a new retail operation. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn a POS system. Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to provide guidance to staff and volunteers. Dependability, flexibility, and a willingness to assist with all aspects of store operations. Previous thrift store or donation-processing experience is helpful but not required. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position involving standing, walking, bending, reaching, sorting merchandise, stocking shelves and racks, and moving donated items throughout the workday. Off Weekend availability is required. The schedule may be adjusted as store operations develop. About Margie's Haven House Margie's Haven House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safety, shelter, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Our new resale shop will help generate revenue to support the organization's mission while providing an affordable shopping option for the community. We are seeking someone who understands that this position is more than managing a store. It is an opportunity to help build a new operation from the ground up and contribute to a meaningful community mission.
Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
