Job Overview The Assistant Bar Manager supports the General Manager and Bar Manager in the day-to-day operation of the bar. This role helps lead the team, maintain high standards of guest service, oversee bar operations, and ensure the establishment is clean, safe, profitable, and compliant with company policies and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who leads by example, communicates effectively, stays calm under pressure, and is passionate about creating an exceptional guest experience. Duties Assist with daily opening, closing, and operational procedures. Lead and supervise bartenders, servers, barbacks, hosts, and other front-of-house staff. Provide hands-on support during busy shifts and ensure smooth service. Deliver friendly, professional, and consistent guest service. Handle guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally. Assist with scheduling, shift assignments, training, and onboarding. Coach employees on service standards, beverage knowledge, responsible alcohol service, and company policies. Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and help manage labor costs. Oversee cash handling, deposits, registers, and end-of-shift financial procedures. Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and storage of beer, wine, liquor, food, and supplies. Monitor product usage and help minimize waste, spills, theft, and unnecessary costs. Ensure the bar, dining areas, restrooms, storage areas, and equipment are clean and properly maintained. Ensure all employees follow health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service requirements. Help maintain compliance with applicable liquor laws and company policies. Assist with creating a welcoming atmosphere and maintaining the bar's standards and culture. Support special events, promotions, live entertainment, and high-volume service periods. Communicate operational needs, staffing issues, maintenance concerns, and other important information to management. Perform manager-on-duty responsibilities when the General Manager or Bar Manager is unavailable. Qualifications Experience in bartending, hospitality, restaurant, or bar operations. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and responsible alcohol service. Excellent communication and customer-service skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable handling cash and basic operational responsibilities. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required. Must meet all applicable legal requirements for alcohol service and employment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry supplies and beverage cases as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Ability to bend, reach, and perform routine cleaning and stocking duties.
