Job Description

Job description Responsible for personally providing customer service and actively engaging sales in the Goddard Employees Welfare Association (GEWA) gift shop, exchange stores and online shop. This position will regularly serve as a daily team leader, and will assist with floor supervision, staff training and in-store displays. This position will regularly open and/or close the store, ensuring that both are timely, accurate, and secure. He/she will lead by example through the delivery of internal and external customer service, engaging in proactive sales efforts and adhering to GEWA and GSFC policies. Must have a flexible work schedule to ensure proper coverage at all times - weekend hours required. Operational Duties
  • Ensure all opening and closing store procedures occur in a timely and efficient manner
  • Expertly conduct sales and related transactions utilizing Point of Sale system
  • Maintain knowledge of store(s) products Customer Service
  • Ensure customer service levels are met and exceed expectations at every opportunity; must be positive and courteous under all conditions.
  • Understand and enhance the customer's experience through effective communication, service, and selling culture
  • Demonstrate ways to increase personal and store productivity
  • Communicate merchandise opportunities / customer feedback to managers Financial
  • Achieve or exceed financial plans through effective planning and management
  • Utilize tools / support to develop creative approaches to drive business results in stores
  • Monitors sales and financial results of retail locations
  • Ensures all stores' actions optimize sales, merchandise investment, and minimize stock shortage ․ Maintain accurate daily records of register reports, reconciliations of register, and bank deposits ․ Utilizes a system that accurately tracks invoices and goods received to ensure timely payment of invoices without duplication Human Resources
  • Provide store associates with continuous performance feedback and necessary training to assist them to meet current and future position requirements
  • Contribute to long term growth through minimum turnover
  • Ensure management and service associates clearly understand and meet job expectations Inventory Management and Marketing
  • Contribute to growth through marketing and inventory management
  • Ensure operational integrity in routines and practices in how the stores run
  • Contribute to appropriate inventory management processes and share feedback/requests as needed Visual Presentation/Store Maintenance
  • Ensure the brand integrity of NASA, Goddard, and GEWA is reflected to customer
  • Support management and train service associates regarding regular merchandising needs
  • Ensure store meets visual merchandising and maintenance standards Skills and Requirements
  • Requires 5+ years supervisor level or equivalent in sales/retail environment
  • Genuine love for the NASA brand and merchandise promotion
  • Dedication to high levels of Customer Service; ability to inspire and motivate other team members in giving great service to our customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to react quickly with changing priorities.
  • Confidence in communicating to the store team on a regular basis and give feedback where needed.
  • Computer proficiency with
MS Office:
Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Excellent English communication - verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
  • Must be able to work shift standing and walking and be able to lift approx. 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to pack, unpack and move stock when supporting in receiving / stocking store functions
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$26.00 - $35.00 per hour
