Job Description
Position Summary The Meat Department Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the meat department, including inventory management, ordering, merchandising, food safety, staffing, and profitability. This person will lead by example, maintain high standards, and create an exceptional shopping experience for every customer. Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the meat department Order fresh meat and department supplies while controlling inventory Maintain attractive, full, and well-organized displays Ensure proper rotation, freshness, and product quality Monitor department sales, margins, shrink, and profitability Hire, train, schedule, and develop department team members Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer concerns Maintain sanitation and food safety standards in accordance with local, state, and company guidelines Ensure pricing and signage are accurate Coordinate promotions and seasonal merchandising Work closely with store leadership to achieve department goals Qualifications Previous experience managing a grocery meat department preferred Knowledge of meat cutting, merchandising, and inventory management Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to coach and motivate a team Excellent organizational and time management skills Customer-focused attitude with a positive, team-oriented mindset Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Takes ownership of their department Leads with integrity and accountability Has a passion for quality products and excellent customer service Can manage inventory to minimize shrink while keeping shelves full Enjoys building and developing a strong team Wants to make a lasting impact on a growing independent grocery store
