A full-time hourly position. Guaranteed minimum $26 per hour including tips, with the potential to earn more. About Davesté Vineyards Davesté Vineyards is a family-owned estate winery on 50 acres in Troutman, North Carolina, founded in 2004. We farm four acres of grapes, make our wine on site, and welcome guests to a tasting room, art gallery, and covered event pavilion. Our wines have earned repeated recognition at a variety of state, national and international wine competitions, including best Rosé at the North Carolina Fine Wine Competition. We are a small team that likes working together, and we are entering a period of real growth - new winemaking equipment, expanded production, and a growing events calendar. We are hiring an Assistant Tasting Room Manager to help us run the tasting room day to day and keep the guest experience consistently excellent. The Role The Assistant Tasting Room Manager is our senior presence on the floor.
You keep the room running:
you lead the shift, look after our guests, keep the bar stocked and the paperwork straight, and step in wherever the day needs you. This is a hands-on role - you will be behind the bar pouring and talking about wine far more often than you will be sitting at a desk. You will take direction from your manager and work closely with our Winemaker and Facilities Manager. On any given shift, you are the person the team looks to. This is a real opportunity for someone ready to step up. For the right person there is a clear path to Tasting Room Manager. What You Will Do Look after our guests
Pour tastings, lead guided tastings and tours, and talk about our wines with warmth and real knowledge
Handle guest questions, special requests, and any on-site problems on the spot
Keep the tasting room, pavilion, restrooms, and the immediate grounds to a standard you would be proud of Lead the shift
Lead the floor during your shift; assign stations and set the pace of service
Help build the staff schedule and flag coverage gaps to your manager
Show new staff the ropes: our wines, our pours, and our standards
Coach the team on tastings, upselling, and inviting guests into the wine club Run the day
Open and close the tasting room; verify and reconcile the cash drawer
Work the point-of-sale system (Square) and submit daily sales reporting
Order and receive tasting room supplies - glassware, retail, snacks, and consumables - within agreed limits
Track retail and by-the-glass inventory and keep the bar and fridge stocked throughout the day
Support the weekly wine and product inventory count
Compile staff hours and tip reporting for payroll every two weeks
Track, maintain, and report petty cash; maintain sufficient change and cash on hand
Monitor the winery's email inboxes and voicemail; respond or pass to the right person
Be the first person the team comes to when something goes wrong on the floor: sort out what you can, and bring the rest to your manager Support events and hospitality
Help execute private parties and booked events on site: setup, staffing, service, and breakdown
Coordinate day-of logistics for live music and ticketed events
Keep the internal events calendar, on-site signage, and the A-frame chalkboard current
Coordinate with the Winemaker on scheduled tours and with the Facilities Manager on repairs and grounds Keep us compliant
Follow and uphold responsible alcohol service and North Carolina ABC regulations at all times
Hold or obtain ServSafe Manager certification Schedule This is a full-time position.
We are open Thursday through Monday, including most holidays, and we expect you to be here for most of the hours we are open. Please only apply if a weekend-based schedule works for you. What We Are Looking For Required
