Production Department Manager Timpl has partnered with a global battery manufacturing industry to recruit a Production Department Manager. The Production Manager's primary role is to ensure the assembly operation consistently produces quality products safely, on time, and at the lowest practical cost while developing the workforce and driving continuous improvement. To achieve this goal, he/she is responsible for the overall management of production operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, and workforce objectives are achieved.
Production Planning and Execution:
Review production schedules and customer demand requirements. Ensure assembly lines are staffed and equipped to meet production targets.
Monitor production output, efficiency, and adherence to schedules. Adjust resources and priorities to address production challenges and changing requirements. Coordinate shift activities to maximize productivity. Safety Management
Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures. Review safety performance and investigate incidents. Ensure corrective actions are implemented for safety concerns. Conduct plant walkthroughs to identify and eliminate hazards. Foster a culture of continuous safety improvement. Quality Oversight
Monitor product quality and manufacturing processes. Review quality metrics, scrap rates, and defect trends. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality issues. Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. Support internal and external audits. Workforce Leadership
Supervise team leaders, supervisors, and production personnel.
Conduct daily production meetings and communicate expectations. Manage employee performance, attendance, and accountability. Support training, development, and succession planning initiatives. Address employee concerns and maintain positive labor relations. Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and process improvement activities. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs. Track and implement productivity improvement projects. Review key performance indicators and develop action plans for improvement. Equipment and Resource Management
Coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
Ensure proper utilization of labor, materials, and equipment. Monitor inventory levels and material flow to prevent shortages. Participate in capital equipment planning and process improvement initiatives. Performance Monitoring and Reportin Review production metrics, including: Safety performance Productivity and throughput Quality performance Downtimeo Labor efficiency Scrap and rework costs - Prepare and communicate daily production reports to senior management.
Develop action plans to address performance gaps.
Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate with:
Production Planning Quality Assuranceo Maintenance Engineeringo Supply Chain Human Resources
Resolve operational issues affecting production performance.
Support new product launches and process changes.
Typical Daily Priorities 1. Review previous shift results and KPI performance. 2. Conduct production and safety meetings. 3. Verify staffing, equipment readiness, and material availability. 4. Monitor production throughout the day and remove barriers to success. 5. Lead problem-solving efforts for quality, safety, or productivity issues. 6.
