Assistant Store Manager / Graphic Designer (DTF Print Shop) Big Chiefin - Mission, South Dakota Pay $18.23 - $19.23 per hour Position Title Evenings & Weekends/ Full-Time Assistant Store Manager / Graphic Designer Position Summary Big Chiefin is seeking a reliable, motivated, and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to help oversee the daily operations of our retail store in Mission, South Dakota. This position also includes graphic design and custom apparel production responsibilities as part of our expanding Direct-to-Film (DTF) t-shirt printing business. This role plays a key leadership position in maintaining store performance, supporting employees, assisting customers, and ensuring the store operates efficiently and professionally each day—while also creating custom designs and assisting with apparel production. The Assistant Manager will help create a positive work environment while maintaining high standards for customer service, cleanliness, organization, creativity, and accountability. Primary Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Provide exceptional customer service to all guests and community members Assist customers with product questions, purchases, and issue resolution Maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere Help drive sales through strong customer engagement and product knowledge Store Operations Assist with daily opening and closing procedures Operate and supervise cash register and POS systems Count drawers and assist with cash management procedures Ensure shelves, coolers, and displays remain stocked and organized Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs Team Leadership Assist in supervising retail employees during scheduled shifts Help train and onboard new employees Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and strong communication Support management in enforcing company policies and procedures Lead by example through reliability, work ethic, and customer interaction Inventory & Merchandising Receive shipments and organize incoming inventory Rotate products and monitor freshness where applicable Assist with merchandising and promotional displays Help reduce inventory loss through proper procedures and awareness Graphic Design & DTF Print Shop Create custom graphic designs for apparel, including t-shirts and merchandise Prepare and format artwork for Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing Operate or assist with DTF printers and heat press equipment Work directly with customers on custom design requests and approvals Ensure proper sizing, placement, and alignment of designs on garments Maintain organized digital files, templates, and design assets Monitor print quality, color accuracy, and finished product standards Assist with order fulfillment, packaging, and turnaround times Stay current with design trends and product ideas to help grow apparel sales Safety & Compliance Maintain store cleanliness and organization standards Follow all company safety procedures and retail compliance requirements Handle confidential business information responsibly Ensure compliance with all applicable tribal, local, and state regulations Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Previous retail, customer service, or supervisory experience preferred Basic graphic design experience required (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar) Experience with apparel printing or DTF printing preferred (training available) Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds Advanced computer and cash handling skills preferred Compensation & Benefits Full-time position averaging 40-50 hours per week Three (3) weeks paid vacation annually Opportunities for advancement and leadership growth Employee discount Schedule Expectations Must be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Flexible scheduling based on business needs Overtime may be required during busy periods Equal Opportunity Statement Big Chiefin is committed to creating a respectful, inclusive, and professional workplace.
