Shearer Autobody | South Burlington, VT | Full-time Shearer Autobody is seeking a Body Shop Assistant Manager to help support the daily operation of our busy collision repair facility. This role combines customer service, administrative coordination, insurance communication, repair-order management, parts support, scheduling, and day-to-day shop operations. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive environment, and able to keep customers, technicians, insurance companies, and vendors moving in the same direction. Prior collision repair or automotive service experience is strongly preferred. What You Will Do Support the Body Shop Manager with the daily operation of the collision center Greet customers and serve as a professional point of contact throughout the repair process Answer incoming calls and respond to customer questions regarding repairs, scheduling, and vehicle status Create and process repair orders from insurance and in-house estimates Collect and verify customer, vehicle, and insurance information Communicate with insurance companies regarding documentation, approvals, supplements, and payments Schedule repairs and help coordinate shop workflow and vehicle delivery dates Monitor repair progress and help keep customers informed throughout the process Order parts and shop supplies as needed Track parts, backorders, and other items that may affect repair timelines Invoice completed repair orders and assist with payment processing Coordinate vehicle pickups and deliveries between customers and Shearer locations Maintain accurate records and completed repair documentation Work closely with technicians, estimators, parts personnel, insurance representatives, and other dealership departments Assist with other operational needs of the Body Shop as assigned What We Are Looking For Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment Strong attention to detail and follow-through Comfortable communicating with customers, technicians, vendors, and insurance representatives Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn dealership and collision-management systems Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Experience Automotive collision repair, body shop, dealership service, or related automotive experience Experience working with insurance companies and collision repair documentation Experience with repair orders, estimates, parts coordination, or shop scheduling Previous supervisory, lead, or management experience is a plus Compensation $65,000 to $85,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications.
