•after all, a great customer experience is only possible with great employees. Summary An auto dealership body shop manager oversees all collision repair operations, manages staff, handles insurance and customer relations, and drives departmental profitability and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Workflow Management:

Oversee daily shop operations, schedule repair jobs, monitor workflow, and ensure timely vehicle delivery.

Estimating & Insurance Coordination:

Write accurate repair estimates and build strong working relationships with insurance adjusters to negotiate claims and supplemental work.

Staff Supervision & Training:

Hire, train, motivate, and supervise technicians, painters, and front-office personnel, fostering technical growth and adherence to OEM repair procedures.

Quality Control & Safety:

Conduct final and in-process inspections to verify structural safety and paint perfection, while ensuring strict compliance with OSHA and hazardous waste disposal regulations.

Financial & Budget Administration:

Set and manage departmental operating budgets, track productivity, monitor parts consumption, and control accounts receivable to maximize profitability.

Customer Service:

Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly according to dealership guidelines to foster repeat and referral business. Several years of hands-on collision repair experience combined with prior supervisory or estimating background.

Technical Knowledge:

Deep understanding of structural/non-structural repair, refinishing technology, and access to OEM repair databases (like Alldata).

Certifications:

Industry credentials such as I-CAR Professional Development Program designations or ASE collision certifications are strongly preferred. CCC1 estimating software. CDK experience.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
