Non-Exempt Position Summary The Sales Agent is responsible for generating new business by engaging prospective clients from a variety of agency-supported lead sources, including strategic partnerships, digital inquiries, the agency's website, client referrals, marketing campaigns, and other approved channels. This role conducts insurance needs assessments, recommends tailored coverage, delivers accurate quotes, and closes sales across personal and/or commercial lines. Success in this role requires strong consultative sales skills, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to build trust quickly with prospective clients. The Sales Agent also supports agency growth through effective lead management, accurate CRM and AMS activity tracking, participation in agency-sponsored growth initiatives, and close alignment with marketing, service, and sales leadership. Core Accountabilities New Business Sales & Client Consultation Engage prospective clients generated from agency referrals, website inquiries, strategic partnerships, marketing campaigns, and other agency-supported lead sources. Conduct needs assessments and make tailored product and coverage recommendations based on client needs and available market options. Provide accurate and competitive quotes using agency and carrier rating platforms. Explain coverage options clearly, address questions and objections professionally, and guide prospects through the purchase decision. Lead Management & Sales Execution Follow up with prospects through multiple touchpoints to maximize conversion and close rates. Bind policies in accordance with agency and carrier requirements and ensure an accurate handoff to onboarding or account management teams. Support campaigns from marketing or sales leadership to drive lead follow-up and conversion. Meet or exceed established monthly and quarterly new business targets and activity expectations. Documentation, Systems & Market Knowledge Maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of client interactions, sales activity, and lead status in AMS and CRM systems. Use comparative rating tools, carrier platforms, and approved sales systems efficiently and consistently. Stay current on carrier underwriting guidelines, appetite, coverage options, and product updates. Follow agency standards related to documentation, data privacy, licensing, and sales practices. Agency Growth & Collaboration Participate in agency-sponsored community events, referral initiatives, and networking opportunities as assigned to support lead generation and brand visibility. Partner with onboarding and service teams to ensure a seamless transition from prospect to client. Communicate lead quality, campaign results, client feedback, and sales process opportunities to sales leadership and other internal partners. Contribute to team discussions, training, and process improvements that strengthen sales effectiveness and the client experience. Explains insurance products and coverage options in client-friendly, easy-to-understand terms. Builds rapport quickly and inspires confidence through professionalism, responsiveness, and follow-through. Lead Management & Follow-Through Tracks and prioritizes leads from multiple agency-supported sources. Maintains proactive follow-up and consistently advances prospects through the sales pipeline. Follows established sales processes and ensures timely outreach and disposition of opportunities. Product & Carrier Knowledge Stays informed about coverage options, underwriting guidelines, carrier appetite, and product changes. Provides accurate quotes and guidance based on current market offerings and client needs. Applies carrier and product knowledge to deliver appropriate, value-driven recommendations. Technology, Documentation & Compliance Accurately records sales activity, client interactions, and lead status in the AMS and CRM. Uses comparative rating tools, carrier systems, and quoting platforms efficiently. Maintains compliance with documentation, data privacy, licensing, and agency sales standards. Collaboration & Client Handoff Partners with onboarding and service teams to ensure a seamless client transition. Communicates relevant account information, lead quality, and campaign feedback to internal partners. Contributes to team discussions and performance conversations with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. Agency Growth Support Supports agency-sponsored community, referral, and marketing initiatives that contribute to qualified lead flow. Represents PolicyWatch professionally in client, community, and partner interactions. Supports agency growth initiatives while maintaining focus on converting assigned and agency-supported opportunities. Adaptability & Initiative Adjusts sales approach based on lead source, client needs, product updates, and market shifts. Takes initiative to pursue assigned opportunities and identify appropriate sales opportunities within the established sales model. Remains motivated, organized, and responsive in a high-activity sales environment. Required Qualifications 1-5 years of experience in insurance sales, account development, or a related client-facing sales role. Active Property & Casualty license required; Life & Health license a plus. Proven ability to sell in a high-volume, relationship-driven environment. Experience with personal and/or small commercial lines products. Strong interpersonal, consultative selling, organization, and follow-up skills. Proficiency with CRM tools, comparative raters, and agency management systems. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual or multilingual fluency. Experience with EZLynx, AMS360, HawkSoft, or similar insurance technology platforms. Background working with agency-generated, referral-based, or campaign-driven leads. Familiarity with cross-sell, bundled policy, and account development strategies. Previous experience with an independent or multi-carrier insurance platform.
Performance Metrics New Business Production:
New business premium and/or revenue written against established monthly and quarterly targets.
Sales Conversion:
Quote-to-bind conversion and effectiveness in moving qualified prospects through the sales process.
Account Development:
Appropriate policy count, bundling, or coverage expansion based on client needs and available solutions.
Lead Responsiveness & Follow-Through:
Timeliness, consistency, and effectiveness of outreach and follow-up across assigned opportunities.
Documentation & System Accuracy:
Accuracy and completeness of CRM, AMS, quoting, and lead-status documentation.
Pipeline & Campaign Execution:
Reliability of pipeline management and execution of assigned sales and marketing campaigns.
Agency Growth Support:
Participation in agency-sponsored referral, community, and sales initiatives that contribute to qualified lead flow.
Client Experience & Handoff Quality:
Quality, accuracy, and professionalism of the client experience from initial contact through onboarding or service transition.
