Pittsburgh, PA / Eastern Ohio Region Position Summary We are seeking a motivated, customer-focused Sales Engineer to develop and grow business throughout the Pittsburgh and Eastern Ohio manufacturing market. This opportunity is ideal for a technically minded professional with hands-on experience in industrial finishing, manufacturing, or related processes. The successful candidate will understand the challenges faced by manufacturing companies and finishing operations and be able to translate those challenges into practical equipment, process, and finishing solutions. Candidates with experience in abrasive blasting, vibratory finishing, surface preparation, deburring, polishing, metal finishing, or industrial finishing equipment are encouraged to apply. We are also interested in individuals who have worked in manufacturing environments with in-house finishing departments, finishing companies, job shops, equipment sales organizations, or in leadership roles such as Warehouse Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, or similar positions with direct exposure to finishing processes. This is a consultative sales role requiring strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships. Key Responsibilities Develop new business opportunities throughout the Pittsburgh and Eastern Ohio territory. Identify customer manufacturing challenges and recommend appropriate finishing solutions, equipment, and process improvements. Conduct customer visits, facility walk-throughs, equipment demonstrations, and technical presentations. Build and maintain relationships with manufacturing engineers, plant managers, operations managers, production supervisors, and purchasing personnel. Prepare quotes, proposals, and technical recommendations. Manage sales activities, opportunities, and customer information through CRM and other technology tools. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project implementation and customer satisfaction. Attend trade shows, industry events, and customer demonstrations as needed. Stay current on industry trends, finishing technologies, manufacturing processes, and competitive offerings. Travel throughout the assigned territory to support customer development and sales activities. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, finishing operations, equipment sales, or a related industry. Direct experience with one or more of the following: Abrasive blasting equipment and processes Vibratory finishing systems Surface preparation Deburring and polishing operations Metal finishing processes Industrial finishing equipment Experience working in a manufacturing facility with a finishing department or related production environment. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into practical technical solutions. Comfortable using CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and other sales technology tools. Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory. Valid driver#39;s license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience working for a finishing company, job shop, or manufacturing operation with finishing processes. Previous experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Operations Supervisor , or similar manufacturing leadership role. Knowledge of process improvement, production efficiency, and manufacturing workflows. Established relationships within the regional manufacturing community. Technical, engineering, manufacturing, or related education, training, or certifications. Previous experience in technical sales, industrial equipment sales, or consultative selling. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate combines hands-on manufacturing or finishing experience with strong customer-facing and sales skills . You should be comfortable walking into a manufacturing facility, understanding a customer#39;s process and challenges, identifying opportunities for improvement, and recommending the right solution. If you have practical finishing experience and are interested in transitioning into a technical sales role—or you already have industrial sales experience and a strong understanding of finishing processes—this position may be a strong fit.
