This part-time leadership position combines retail sales, customer education, event support, and creative community engagement. If you enjoy sewing, quilting, embroidery, teaching others, and helping people bring creative projects to life, we'd love to meet you.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Deliver an exceptional customer experience by coaching and supporting team members in retail sales, customer service, and product knowledge. Train and mentor sales associates on sewing machines, embroidery machines, software, cabinets, accessories, notions, and related products to help customers find the best solution for their needs. Demonstrate sewing and quilting products to customers and provide post-purchase education that builds confidence, satisfaction, and long-term customer relationships. Develop and lead educational classes, product demonstrations, workshops, and training programs that inspire creativity and encourage continued learning. Partner with the Event Planner to develop and promote in-store and online events, classes, and marketing initiatives through social media, ecommerce, and community outreach. Support and participate in off-site events such as quilt shows, sewing expos, Fiber & Fabric Fest events, and community gatherings. Attend manufacturer trainings and industry conferences to maintain expertise in sewing, quilting, embroidery, and related technologies. Less than 5% travel required. Collaborate with the leadership team to grow sales, expand the customer base, and strengthen community engagement. Assist with inventory management, merchandising, and maintaining an organized, welcoming showroom environment. Foster a positive, team-oriented workplace culture that reflects the company's mission and values. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Passion for sewing, quilting, embroidery, dressmaking, crafting, or other fiber arts. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Sales-minded with the ability to confidently recommend products and solutions based on customer needs. Comfortable demonstrating sewing machines, accessories, and creative products to individuals and groups. Organized, dependable, and able to follow operational procedures and processes. Basic computer proficiency, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, email, and online learning platforms. Basic math skills and ability to accurately process sales transactions and payments. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the store during scheduled shifts. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently and participate in team lifts up to 75 pounds. Availability to work at least four days per week which may include two Saturdays per month and opening or closing shifts.
Preferred:
Retail sales, customer service, leadership, or retail management experience. Experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, or leading educational workshops. Experience selling sewing machines, quilting supplies, craft products, or other specialty retail products. Demonstrated success in commission-based or consultative sales environments. College degree or equivalent professional experience.
