The Bridal Sales Consultant is responsible for providing each bride and customer with a personalized, welcoming, and memorable shopping experience. This position involves assisting brides in selecting wedding gowns, helping customers with fittings and styling, maintaining the appearance of the boutique, completing sales transactions and paperwork, and following up with customers throughout the bridal process. The ideal candidate is outgoing, dependable, organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a customer-focused sales environment. Key Responsibilities Welcome brides, family members, and other customers into the boutique in a friendly and professional manner. Conduct bridal appointments and learn about each bride's wedding, style preferences, budget, sizing, and specific needs. Assist brides with selecting, trying on, and comparing wedding gowns. Help customers into and out of gowns while handling all merchandise carefully. Provide professional and honest recommendations regarding gown styles, fit, accessories, and alterations. Create a comfortable, positive, and exciting experience for brides and their guests. Encourage sales while respecting the customer's budget, preferences, and timeline. Assist customers with accessories, veils, special-order gowns, off-the-rack gowns, and other merchandise. Take accurate customer measurements when required. Explain gown ordering, alteration, fitting, payment, pickup, and store procedures to customers. Coordinate with seamstresses and alteration staff regarding customer requests and gown modifications. Maintain accurate customer records, sales paperwork, payment information, special orders, and appointment notes. Process purchases, deposits, and other transactions accurately. Follow up with brides regarding appointments, orders, fittings, payments, and gown arrivals. Answer phone calls, messages, and customer inquiries professionally. Schedule and confirm bridal appointments. Maintain communication with customers throughout the purchasing and alteration process. Keep bridal gowns, fitting rooms, displays, racks, mirrors, and customer areas organized and presentable. Return gowns to their proper locations after appointments. Assist with steaming, organizing, tagging, and preparing gowns as needed. Help maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of the boutique. Assist with inventory, receiving new merchandise, and organizing new arrivals. Participate in bridal shows, special events, promotions, and other store marketing activities when needed. Take photos or assist with social media and promotional content when requested. Complete additional boutique duties during periods when there are no scheduled customers. Work cooperatively with management, seamstresses, consultants, and other team members. Follow all company policies regarding customer service, attendance, dress code, confidentiality, sales procedures, and workplace conduct. Customer Service Expectations Bridal shopping is an important and emotional experience for many customers. Sales Consultants are expected to provide patient, respectful, and attentive service at all times.
Consultants should:
Listen carefully to each bride's needs and concerns. Remain patient with customers and their guests. Avoid pressuring customers into purchases. Maintain a positive and professional attitude. Handle complaints or concerns calmly and involve management when appropriate. Respect customer privacy and confidentiality. Make every reasonable effort to ensure each bride feels comfortable, valued, and supported. Sales Expectations Sales Consultants are expected to actively contribute to the success of the boutique by: Building relationships and trust with customers. Understanding the boutique's gowns, designers, accessories, services, and pricing. Making appropriate recommendations based on each customer's needs. Following up with prospective customers when appropriate. Helping convert appointments into sales through excellent service rather than high-pressure sales tactics. Staying knowledgeable about current bridal styles, trends, fabrics, silhouettes, and gown features. Qualifications Previous retail, bridal, fashion, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred but not required. Sales experience is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, confident, and professional demeanor. Ability to communicate comfortably with customers and groups of family members or friends. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and store procedures. Dependable and punctual. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Comfortable discussing sizing, measurements, fit, and alterations with customers in a respectful manner. Basic computer, phone, and point-of-sale skills. Willingness to learn about bridal gowns, designers, fabrics, silhouettes, alterations, and bridal fashion. Physical Requirements Because bridal gowns apparently refuse to move themselves, employees must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, reach, kneel, and move around fitting rooms. Assist customers with putting on and removing gowns. Carry, hang, and organize wedding gowns and other merchandise. Safely use step stools or ladders when necessary. Perform light cleaning and organization throughout the boutique. Schedule Requirements Must be available during scheduled bridal appointments. Weekend availability may be required, particularly Saturdays. Availability for occasional bridal shows, special events, or extended store hours may be required. Employees are expected to arrive on time and remain available for the entirety of their scheduled shift. Dress Code Employees are expected to maintain a clean, polished, and professional appearance appropriate for a bridal boutique. Business casual or formal attire is required unless otherwise directed by management. What We Look For We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and understands that bridal sales involves much more than selling a dress. A successful Bridal Sales Consultant is patient, attentive, dependable, confident, and capable of making customers feel comfortable during one of the most important purchases leading up to their wedding. The right person should be willing to take initiative, stay productive during slower periods, support coworkers, maintain the boutique's appearance, and provide every customer with the level of service expected from a professional bridal store.
