Job Description

Position Purpose The Business Development Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining relationships that support the growth of both the medical practice and mental health therapy services. This position serves as a liaison between the organization and referral sources, healthcare providers, community agencies, schools, employers, and other community partners. The Business Development Specialist will represent the organization professionally within the community, increase awareness of available services, and help connect individuals and families with quality healthcare and mental health treatment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Referral Development & Relationship Building Develop and maintain relationships with physicians, hospitals, healthcare providers, schools, social service agencies, employers, and community organizations. Educate referral sources and community partners about available medical and mental health services. Conduct regular outreach visits and maintain ongoing communication with referral partners. Serve as a positive representative of the organization within the community. Community Outreach Attend networking events, health fairs, community events, and professional meetings. Promote the organization's services and programs throughout the region. Develop partnerships that increase community awareness and access to care. Identify opportunities to expand the organization's presence within the local market. Business Development Identify and pursue opportunities to increase patient referrals and overall practice growth. Collaborate with leadership to support strategic growth initiatives. Assist in developing and implementing marketing and outreach efforts. Maintain strong relationships with existing referral sources while actively pursuing new partnerships. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate records of referral activities, outreach efforts, and business development contacts. Track referral trends and provide feedback regarding growth opportunities. Submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner. Utilize designated systems to document activities and outcomes. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Communications, behavioral health or a related field preferred. Experience 1-2 years of experience in healthcare marketing, business development, admissions, sales, customer relations, or community outreach preferred. 1-2 years experience working within healthcare, behavioral health, or medical settings is strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities. Professional presentation and networking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic record or tracking systems. Understanding of healthcare and behavioral health services preferred. Performance Expectations The Business Development Specialist is expected to represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and compassion at all times. The employee should actively support growth initiatives, maintain strong relationships throughout the community, and contribute to increasing patient access to medical and mental health services. Compliance Requirements The Business Development Specialist shall: Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Complete required training and continuing education assignments. Conduct business in an ethical and professional manner. Protect confidential business and patient information. Physical Requirements Frequent local travel within the service area. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Work Schedule This position generally works during normal business hours. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for community events, networking opportunities, and outreach activities.
