Grocery Buyer High Falls Food Co-op - High Falls, NY Full-Time | Hourly High Falls Food Co-op is seeking an organized, motivated, and customer-focused Grocery Buyer to join our team. This position is responsible for purchasing, merchandising, inventory management, and supporting the daily operations of our Grocery Department. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about providing an outstanding shopping experience. Schedule Full-time position Must be available to work evenings and weekends as business needs require. What You'll Do Purchasing & Inventory Place product orders while maintaining department budgets and margins. Coordinate sales, promotions, and product demonstrations. Evaluate vendors and identify new product opportunities. Review invoices for accuracy and process credits and returns. Maintain accurate receiving and inventory records. Merchandising Ensure shelves, coolers, displays, and endcaps are fully stocked, rotated, faced, and attractively merchandised. Maintain accurate pricing and signage throughout the department. Assist with seasonal merchandising and promotional displays. Monitor shrink and inventory levels to maximize department performance. Leadership & Teamwork Help train, coach, and support Grocery Team Members. Work closely with the Grocery Manager to prioritize daily tasks. Foster a positive, collaborative work environment. Assist with cashiering and support other departments as needed. Attend department meetings and stay informed on industry trends. Customer Service Deliver friendly, knowledgeable customer service. Help customers locate products and answer questions. Promote High Falls Food Co-op membership and cooperative values. Ensure every customer has a welcoming shopping experience. Qualifications Previous retail grocery or buying experience preferred. Purchasing or inventory management experience is a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Familiarity with natural and organic foods is preferred. Knowledge of cooperative grocery stores is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
