EcoResource Solutions, Inc. (ERS) is a professional environmental consulting firm that provides aquatic and terrestrial ecological services nationwide. ERS' services range from high level scientific consulting, wetland delineation and restoration, and fish and wildlife management to pond and lake enhancement and maintenance. We serve a diverse clientele, primarily throughout the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions. ERS is seeking to fill a biological technician position, with both field and laboratory responsibilities. We are looking for reliable candidates who can work independently in the field and lab with little supervision, and one who is a problem solver who can travel out of state for up to two weeks at a time.
Overview:
The Biological / Environmental Technician will work under the direct supervision of the company's biologists. Work assignments will vary depending upon different project types but will primarily include the coordination and completion of fish, wildlife, and other natural resource surveys; coordination and completion of regional pond and lake maintenance tasks; and performance of laboratory duties.
Other responsibilities include:
maintenance of the company's sampling equipment, vehicles and facilities; application of aquatic algaecides and herbicides (under supervision of licensed supervisors); and completion of data analyses and spreadsheets.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate is required to have a minimum of a BS degree in biology, fishery and wildlife biology, or related field. Must be able to work independently (often under adverse weather conditions and in remote areas) and travel out of state for periods up to two weeks. Must demonstrate an adequate knowledge of aquatic and terrestrial ecology and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. A valid driver's license with good record is required, and required at all times during employment with ERS . Knowledge and experience in the following areas are essential: Fish sampling in lakes and streams using various passive techniques and electrofishing; Fish and wildlife species identification; Fish and wildlife assessment methodologies and management techniques; Pond and lake management and general water quality; Laboratory experience, including identification of aquatic macroinvertebrates and analyses of water quality samples: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (ArcGIS skills preferred); Proficiency with operation of boats, 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, and trailer towing; Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including heavy lifting, boating, hiking, digging, etc.; Proficient time management skills to complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines; Knowledge and practice of outdoor safety (e.g., must complete a Colorado boat safety course upon hire); and Experience using tools with problem-solving skills.
