A Career for a Purpose Summary of Duties At SunCoast Blood Centers, every blood product processed has the potential to save a life. We are seeking an experienced Biologics Technician Supervisor to lead our Product Manufacturing team while playing an active role in the day-to-day processing of blood components. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys developing staff, driving quality, and ensuring operational excellence in a highly regulated healthcare environment. As a Biologics Technician Supervisor, you'll oversee daily manufacturing operations while supporting a team responsible for processing blood components safely, accurately, and efficiently. You'll help maintain compliance, monitor workflow, support training efforts, and ensure products are ready to support patient care throughout our community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field preferred Experience
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in blood banking, laboratory operations, or regulated manufacturing required
Demonstrated experience in blood component processing and handling required
Prior experience in a lead, trainer, or supervisory capacity preferred
Experience supporting audits, inspections, or regulatory environments preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of blood component manufacturing processes, including processing, labeling, storage, and distribution
Working knowledge of regulatory standards (FDA, AABB, OSHA) and internal SOPs
Ability to troubleshoot workflow, equipment, and process issues in real time
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, and compliance
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage changing production demands
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in laboratory systems, documentation practices, and inventory tracking

Promotes a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the laboratory

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Production and Manufacturing Oversight
Perform and oversee blood component processing, including separation, labeling, storage, and preparation for distribution
Ensure all manufacturing activities are completed in accordance with SOPs, regulatory standards, and quality requirements
Monitor workflow and prioritize production activities to meet operational demands Staff Supervision and Team Support
Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to component technicians
Assist with staff scheduling, coverage, and daily work assignments
Support onboarding, training, and competency development of team members
Reinforce performance expectations, policies, and procedures Quality and Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
Perform or oversee quality control, maintenance, and lot release activities
Identify, document, and escalate discrepancies, deviations, or non-conformances
Support internal and external audits and inspections Workflow Coordination and Operational Support
Coordinate daily laboratory workflow to ensure efficiency and timely processing
Troubleshoot operational, equipment, and documentation issues
Support courier coordination and product logistics as needed Inventory and Supply Management
Monitor inventory levels of blood products, reagents, and supplies
Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of products and materials
Assist with ordering and tracking supplies to maintain uninterrupted operations Process Improvement and Leadership Support
Identify workflow inefficiencies and support process improvement initiatives
Partner with leadership to enhance operational performance and quality outcomes
Provide coverage and operational support in the absence of leadership as needed Laboratory Environment and Safety
Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment
Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and environmental protocols Additional Responsibilities
Participate in meetings, training, and professional development
Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational success
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods
Ability to lift and move materials up to 30-60 pounds
Manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment and blood products Environmental Requirements
Laboratory environment with exposure to blood and potentially infectious materials
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
Exposure to temperature-controlled and regulated manufacturing environments
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is essential to support continuous laboratory operations Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required by operational needs
